I take it to mean that they have the intent to be more active than usual.
I actually woukdn't mind them being a little less active, but just go after much better quality free agents.

Jumping in. What sort of response would you expect from a guy in front of media whose tram is competing for worst team.
If he had said we are going to not be active then that would put a damper on ticket sales
Playing the cynic here

My reply was simply what I would like to see them do. I don't have a problem with what the GM said. As I stated earlier, there is a whole lot of flexibility in his statement. I was just saying how I would like the offseason to unfold regarding free agency.

It could very well mean that. I think the "quality versus quantity" aspects are things we assign to FO activity more than they do themselves.

To me, if they go after one top notch free agent and sign him, it would mean they were a lot more active in free agency than they have been in a long time.

I'm curious how this will go. According to their statements and presence, CY took the lead for the draft and JD for the trade deadline. CY is the one who was quoted by Evan Grant saying the Rangers "would be active" in free agency. I wonder if this means CY is taking the lead on it, or at least that's what his contribution/opinion is. Obviously no way to know for sure, but if the Rangers do in fact end up being big(ger) players in FA this offseason, I wonder how much of that is CY.

That is so hard to say. It could be that he is on a long term training course and he is primarily an assistant GM with a bigger title. It could be that JD is within an offseason or so of completely turning trades, the draft and FA signings over to him. The actual assistant GM stepping down would seem to be an indication that Young has assumed those duties.

He could be a spokesman for a certain area without actually being in charge of that area.

If I had to guess, I would say JD is still the primary decision maker in most areas and Chris will slowly take over, over the next 18 to 24 months. It would definitely be a guess though.

Then I wonder if hypothetically, CY is the guy and is looking to make a splash and goes after a big piece and it ends up being a poor choice. Just too many damn variables LOL

This is fine pickle for Texas to correct Boston’s fielding errors

Either Otto or Alexy could join the team in Cleveland tomorrow.

Quality start from Allard.

I'm finding that the reasons we lose games recently has less and less to do with pitching.

I have to admit, when I went Opening Day, there was more that I didn't like about the new stadium than I did. When I went several days ago, it shifted to about 50/50. I think going from age 16-42 in the Ballpark created an emotional connection that the new place won't ever be able to duplicate, through no fault of its own.

Tepid isn't wrong about the interior spaces; it's flat out weird. The Ballpark was basically a square outside and in, the Grill is a mishmash of angles. Most of the interior is too corporate; there's a bunch of brick in the left field area and then nowhere else. The concourses are wider and yet somehow more congested. There aren't enough monitors showing the game as you're walking around.

That being said, when you're actually sitting in your seat watching the game, it feels perfect. It feels so much like the Ballpark that it's almost eerie. I've only sat in one general area so I can't comment yet on other parts, but the views I've seen are excellent. And the roof... the roof is amazing.
