No More "Bullpen Failure"
I actually woukdn't mind them being a little less active, but just go after much better quality free agents.I take it to mean that they have the intent to be more active than usual.

Jumping in. What sort of response would you expect from a guy in front of media whose tram is competing for worst team.I actually woukdn't mind them being a little less active, but just go after much better quality free agents.
My reply was simply what I would like to see them do. I don't have a problem with what the GM said. As I stated earlier, there is a whole lot of flexibility in his statement. I was just saying how I would like the offseason to unfold regarding free agency.Jumping in. If he had said we are going to not be active then that would put a damper on ticket sales
Playing the cynic here

To me, if they go after one top notch free agent and sign him, it would mean they were a lot more active in free agency than they have been in a long time.
That is so hard to say. It could be that he is on a long term training course and he is primarily an assistant GM with a bigger title. It could be that JD is within an offseason or so of completely turning trades, the draft and FA signings over to him. The actual assistant GM stepping down would seem to be an indication that Young has assumed those duties.I'm curious how this will go. According to their statements and presence, CY took the lead for the draft and JD for the trade deadline. CY is the one who was quoted by Evan Grant saying the Rangers "would be active" in free agency. I wonder if this means CY is taking the lead on it, or at least that's what his contribution/opinion is. Obviously no way to know for sure, but if the Rangers do in fact end up being big(ger) players in FA this offseason, I wonder how much of that is CY.

He could be a spokesman for a certain area without actually being in charge of that area.
If I had to guess, I would say JD is still the primary decision maker in most areas and Chris will slowly take over, over the next 18 to 24 months. It would definitely be a guess though.

This is fine pickle for Texas to correct Boston’s fielding errors
Quality start from Allard.
I'm finding that the reasons we lose games recently has less and less to do with pitching.
