Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Dodgers are finalizing a trade with the Royals for Danny Duffy.​

Duffy, 32, does have a no-trade clause, but he's expected to waive that per Passan. The Royals are expected to receive a player to be named later in the deal. Jon Heyman of MLB Network notes that the Royals are expecting to send money to complete the deal, as well, with Duffy currently earning $15.5 million in 2021 before hitting free agency in 2022. He's also currently on the injured list with a flexor strain, and is expected to be ready near the end of August. He's been a starter for Kansas City -- and a good one in 2021 -- but Passan notes that the left-hander could be used as a multi-inning reliever while he's with the Dodgers. Expect an announcement on this one shortly.

Gain control on closer but traded Toro for Shenton. Not an earth-shaker of a deadline, but for longterm I like it.

At this point, I would not go for it this year. The trades to me are for next year more than this year so keep the course.

Essentially so far we are at adding: Castillo, Toro, Smith, Anderson and subtracting Graveman, Chargois, Shenton, Bins. Doesnt move the needle a ton but the team is better off.

Chargois has been used a lot lately. I wouldn't be surprised to see some regression from him. Of course, it's the Rays so he'll become Mariano Rivera instead.

Losing a 3B prospect kinda sucks with how thin we are there.
