Yeah ..there saying .they will prob.M's social media already riding the myth that the m's missed the playoffs by 1 game this year.
They were eliminated 3 games out, not 1. And even if you go by the year-end standings, the M's lost any tiebreak against other WC contenders, so it was 2 games out even by that idiotic way to measure it.
Saw that Stanton said they're going to up payroll, but the biggest issue is that no good hitters want to come here. Why would they choose to come here with all of the shit guys say about the batters eye and it being a generally awful park for hitters?
There is only one reason any decent FA comes here: a much fatter contract than they'd get anywhere else. Look at Garver. You really think any team but the M's were even close to offering him TRIPLE what he made in Texas for playing part time? Triple guaranteed for 2 years no less?
Pitching is not going to be able to put out a once in a generation performance next year like they did this year, but they'll be the only thing worth watching in 2025, that's for sure.
Yep. It would have to be a good bat, but, yep. I'd do it. Castillo is almost 32 years old and he showed some signs of slowing down this year. Now might be the time to pull a preemptive strike and trade him.I would trade Castillo for a bat in a heartbeat.
I like the Garcia idea. Just don't give up too much for him. I think Hancock is too much. Starting pitching is gold these days, even guys like Hancock.I know
.right...I think..the same thing ...
And only ..have ..one.solution....
That makes. Sense...and would fit...
Louis Garcia...2b..for .Hancock .
Logan Evans...polanco..and garver ..
Free agent .Cristian walker ...sign..
1b ..2b ...
Ss Crawford.../moore
3b .Rojas ../Moore .for now .
.
Leaving..dh .to.unkown...and.#4...
Or Garcia as dh
With more.2b..from.someware
That's as much .as I could .think..of.
Otherwise...
.I'm tapped .out.
I would be ok with that ...Yep. It would have to be a good bat, but, yep. I'd do it. Castillo is almost 32 years old and he showed some signs of slowing down this year. Now might be the time to pull a preemptive strike and trade him.
Not a single contending team this year who wouldn't have cut him halfway through this season. He's a complete waste of a roster spot. Period. There isn't a contending team out there who would add him to their roster even if they could do it for 100% free.I don’t think you really need to cut Garver though. His season this year was more than fine for a backup catcher but only a backup catcher.
That is my guess. Is they are unableNot a single contending team this year who wouldn't have cut him halfway through this season. He's a complete waste of a roster spot. Period. There isn't a contending team out there who would add him to their roster even if they could do it for 100% free.
I'm sure they'll keep him. So people who think it's acceptable to keep him on a 26-man roster in any capacity will be happy . Stanton won't flush $!2 million down the drain.
Houston ate $20 million this year and another $20 million next year by DFA'ing Abreu. They value every roster spot and try to maximize it. That's a winning mentality though,, so yeah, the M's will hold onto Garver for dear life and justify not at least trying to replace his roster spot with something productive because of that $12 million investment.
I'm betting Ford will be on the roster to start the year anyway, so there's no excuse to even keep a giant turd like Garver as a backup catcher. Well, unlesss one of Stanton's/Jerry's "moves" is to trade Ford. Wouldn't put that past them as justification for keeping dogshit Garver. You've got Cal locked up for a couple more years after all.
Again, this is bare minimum stuff to show a real desire to contend. There is no argument against it.
