Mariners trade deadline thread 2023

Figured with the trade deadline about a month away things could start to get interesting for us.

Should the Mariners be buyers or sellers?

I'm honestly not sure what they should do at this point tbh. On the one hand, I don't see this team making the playoffs as currently constructed. On the other hand, I'm fucking tired of losing. We make the playoffs one year and now we're sitting below .500 and 7th in the AL wildcard race and 4th in the AL West. Honestly I'm unsure that even if they depleted their entire farm system if they'd be able to upgrade the lineup enough for us to rally in the second half of the season.

We've all been screaming this for the last few years, but had the Mariners actually been aggressive in free agency we wouldn't be in this position. Many of the hitters I've seen listed as potential trade candidates are vets who signed prove it deals in free agency. Guys we could've had in the first place who will now cost prospects and will be costly to extend.

What would ya'll do?

I'm not sure buying or selling is the right idea at this point. The root of the problem is Jerry's total whiff in FA and Servais/coach's not able to address any reoccurring issues that plague this team. Earlier I said some of the coaches will probably get canned but as much as I hate losing, I'll take a full implosion to wipe out the coaches and Jerry.

I hope they sit out the deadline other than get 50 cents on the dollar for Teoscar who will probably walk in a few months. Off season as we all know and bitch about is the time to fix the problems. This will probably be the least enthused trade deadline for me in years. They can't swap their way to winning. They need additions. And no Jerry is not the man to do it in the offseason so

Teoscar has some value and could get a half descent prospect back Jerry won't do that on the count of everyone will think he's selling. The fucking Royals made the WS and this franchise continues to be stuck in reverse.

Oh I agree with ya. Plus Jerry Boy doesn't like to show he made a mistake on a player until the next year. Plus, does it matter since jerry Boy is the guy that brought us Frazier, Winker, Wong, and more I choose not to remember.
