How comfortable are you with the backup QB situation?

Right now Wilson is the only QB on the team since TJax is testing the FA market and Sims was just recently released. They say they want Jackson back, and it looks like he's going to have trouble landing a deal with another team so there's a good chance he will re-sign.

But, say Tarvaris does go somewhere else. Or say he loses a step. In that case Boykin and Heaps are the two other options. Would you feel comfortable going into the season with Boykin as the back up? Obviously we haven't seen anything from him yet and this would only become an issue if Russ went down somehow. But I feel like it's worth discussing.

I suppose there's also a strong possibility that the front office brings in a veteran guy to compete if TJax isn't around but as of now I'm not sure who they would bring in. Josh Johnson? Clipboard Jesus?

Lots of options to shake out before the season gets going. Will BJ Daniels stick with the 9ers? I was really impressed with him last pre-season. Wouldn't mind him being back.

I'm hoping for a T-Jax re-sign along with holding onto a project like Adams or Boykin for the PS. BJ Daniels wouldn't be bad as well since he could back up RW and play special teams.

Seems like TJax been hard to ink to a contract last couple of years. Wonder if the Seahawks get a little feel like time to move on. B. J. Daniels and a development QB won't be a bad way to go.

I like Daniels, but he was essentially trying to make the team as a return specialist/special teams guy/WR. Those reps he got at QB in the last preseason game were mostly because TJax was injured. I suppose if he could earn a spot as a utility guy and they carry another QB as Harold suggested that could work. That might be tough to do depending on the depth at other positions though.

I'm not sure hard-to-sign is accurate, I think he just waits as long as he can with an offer from the Seahawks in his back pocket to see if an opportunity that isn't behind an entrenched starter opens up.

Well no other team stepped up last year for him, so really not likely a year later, is it? Going to have to replace him in the near future. I think the future may be this year, given the fact they got two promising developemental QBs in camp.

Maybe in the last year, but prior it was as QB. Been tutored at 49ers under Harbaugh, Packers, Seahawks, and then got snatched up when they were forced to move him to PS due to injuries. The whole SP gig was to be able to keep him off the PS. Pretty tough to have 3 QBs on the 53 man roster. Who else knows the system? Clipboard Jesus? :puke:

I expect T-Jax to be back. Except for the Jets and maybe Denver (very long shot for T-Jax), most teams all ready have their QB depth chart to where they want it. I think he'll sign by mid June and will be ready for TC.

It's the Seahawks or retire, pretty sure of that.

I agree as well. Denver will ride with Sanchez/Lynch and the Jets will eventually sign Fitzpatrick. Nowhere else to go except to Seattle to be the back up.

Probably not, unless injury strikes during minicamps

QB injuries in camp can change some things. Maybe it looks like Tarvaris Jackson has limited options now, but if he's a free agent come August and someone goes down, that opens up an opportunity even if it's a backup job.

Backup QB is way down on the worry list for me though. We are pretty much hosed if RW is out for any length of time anyway. I'm way more interested on what becomes of the line.

I'm fine with it. It's unkown, but that's ok. I've spent many years being worried about who the starter will be. I can't bring myself to flinch even a little bit over who the backup is.
