we wont really know who is to blame for the repeated terrible trades that never work out, the horribly bloated contracts for subpar players, or the repeated failure to draft anyone worth a shit in round one is on carroll or schneider. so fire them both and start over.
Without the team really having any ownership right now I'd like to see John S stay just because he already has a relationship with J. Allen... Then he can hand pick a new HC... Pete's too stubborn to retire but we really need to move on from him... It's time...

Witherspoon was a Pete Carroll pick.

Cross and JSN were NOT a Pete Carroll pick. They do NOTHING that fits his scheme (the scheme that has done fuck all in nearly a decade after a ridiculously overloaded talented roster won a SBOWL and appeared in another). K9 was also not a Pete Carroll pick, Mafe/Hall who knows but given those guys BOTH projected to be better 4-3 DEs and Carroll did this STUPID 3-3-5 bullshit switch, I wonder if those were even his picks.

Carroll needs to go, ASAP. This team is going nowhere with him.

I mean JSN is Captain drop, but I also blame it on the fact that Seattle has zero clue how to run a route over the middle of the field while every other team does it against our shitty ass soft zone D like it's a warm up practice. Cross is fine, he did okay today and has started to step up. We drafted him VERY young and he had the injury earlier but he's been fine. Witherspoon has been good, but a nickel DB is a low position of need and at this point Carter has been a FAR better asset in Philly... Witherspoon was 100% a Carroll pick.

I wouldn't JSN has been TRASH... but the offense has not utilized him correctly at all... These are three players after watching them, that I think a more competent coaching staff (that 100% includes Carroll) would get WAY more out of.

We need to get rid of Carroll for this team to move on. A new QB isn't gonna do jack shit. We have the second highest paid defense that does very little, we have TONS of high draft and skilled players on offense that we can't utilize, we run the same crap plays after the scripted first two drives (which admittedly are pretty good) are done, we utilize players against their strengths (designing inside runs with outside players, failing to incorporate middle routes, utilizing 4-3 players in a 3-4 or 3-3-5 system, etc.) and making poor coaching decisions as well.

Seattle is doing NOTHING until Carroll is gone. And hey, Carroll was the best HC we ever had. He won us a Super Bowl, got us to a lot of playoff games, hey.. it inspired Seattle football and sports. Nobody ignores that. But it's time to ride off into the sunset you gum chewing fuck! Take Myers THAT FUCK with you.

imagine what metcalf could do in a different offense with better coaches.

just look at what san fran gets out of their players on offense, theres no excuse for the garbage shit we see week in and week out.

maybe he has a better rookie year on a different team, who knows.

I think you got a Point but then who do you keep?

To me:

Offense: K9, Lockett, Parky*, Cross, Lucas, Bradford, The Michagan C, JSN,
Defense: Bubba, Mafe, The CB's, Brooks, Williams, Hall, Morris

And Meyers because he is a damn good K. Kicked us out of alot of Jams Sharky. Dickson too

It's pretty obvious you keep the younger drafted guys. Why the hell would you keep Lockett at this point? Why would you keep any of the safeties? The linebacker crew is a dumpster fire. Myers? I expect Super Bowl level for how much we're paying that FUCK. You keep the RBs, WRs (excluding Lockett), start over on the TE crew which I'm sorry was the most ridiculous thing we spent money into, keep most people on the offensive line (CUT PETERS SERIOUSLY!? I get it was due to injury but REALLY!? Throw Curhan in that burning tire fire), and then most important take the old style of coaching that Pete Carroll has DESTROYED this franchise with (hey again, I know it sounds mean, he is still the best coach we've have, it's just not his time anymore, New England is seeing the same thing with Belicheck) and move the F on from it.

Get BACK to a 4-3 defense where Hall and Mafe will excel (or should), get back to to the basics on D with man coverage (Witherspoon does great), and then run your offense with what the NFL is seeing works today (which you have LOADS upon LOADS of talent to do). Quick, sfhity runners and receivers that are dangerous possession guys that are not only available to run out routes and stretch routes 24/7.

Lockett: It's More of a Respect thing.
I don't know what you mean by Safties......
Brooks: Whens he is playing. He's a tackling machine...............
Bubba: See Lockett
Parky: I like him. He's a Mismatch Machine. 6'7 with some good speed.
Myers: How much are we paying him. But He is damn good and Kicked us out of alot of Jams.

And Start getting Versatile Chess pieces on Defense. IMO Confuse the Offense and have them wondering whos out there and where.

I also have a different Philosphy on Defense but it might attract trolls

I've been saying this for a while and I still think it is the biggest problem.

Pete's defenses are simply and they succeed when the players all execute at a high level. Pete doesn't engage in a lot of subterfuge. So teams know what we are doing. And when players don't execute it leaves huge holes. So unless we get a new Earl Thomas and younger version of Bobby Wagner, this defense will always be average, at best.

So we're going to keep Lockett on principle? Hate to say that, but that's what bad teams and Corporations do. Now I'll differ from your view and say he is still one of the most effective receivers on this team so I can get behind it. $20M+ is still extravagant given another year piled on him and now injuries piling up.

You don't know what I mean by safeties? The fact our safeties are $50M or so cap hit next year and average at best? Hell they both are a MAJOR reason the game was lost today. Adams took out the best player on our D and then proceeded to let up a hail Mary throw (granted Douche Purdy had 189284 seconds to throw) and Diggs outside of some early hits did nothing of significance.

Brooks, well true but he's not coming off a couple injuries. He's a decent tackler but if the play has already developed for 5+ yards (which it routinely does) it doesn't matter. He has zero instincts.

Bubba. .... Bubba who?

Parky? Parkinson? Uh, sure.

Myers. Sure... he's being paid as one of the best best kickers in the league. He is not the best kicker in the league or anywhere close to it.

Your last comment about getting different pieces and confusing the offense (or defense) is 100% on the coaching staff... which is basically what I've been saying all along and on the thread you quoted... We have a lot of talent and different pieces all over. It seems Carroll and his dementia Joe Biden football mind has zero fuckin clue how to use them. So not sure where your angle is coming from.

Right.................. in Safeties.

And he blew a chance to win back to back super bowls, so that cancels out.

Sure..............

Point was, he's still the best coach in franchise history. Should we had more Super Bowls? Yah probably. But we didn't. Still, it's what it is.

That said, moving on, it's time to say goodbye. The Patriots are hanging on to the same thing and that's a done thing as well. Seattle is actually in a MUCH better position than the Pats. It'd be a mistake to let Carroll go as the HC into 2024.

Trading the hot head (14) might even help move up for one.

I said long ago that DK Metcalf has no self control and will cause a personal foul penalty at a crucial juncture. There was a game a few weeks back were he could have been called for a PF costing the Seahawks the game, but the refs missed it.

Metcalf commits at least 2 personal fouls, unsportsmanlike conducts each game whether he's called for them or not. He's talented, but a big liability. Other teams know this and they can bait him, and he's too stupid not to fall for it. Carroll is too timid to rein his ass in.

An expected loss, but at least this time the Hawks were not embarrassed. What stood out to me:
  • All things considered, Lock held up ok. He wasn't brilliant and did made some mistakes (most glaring was the illegal fwd pass when he had an easy 8 yards to run), but he was put in a really tough spot and played well most of the game. He has a pretty easy looking throwing motion and showed an ability to move out of the pocket while keeping his eyes down field, which isn't something we have seen Geno do a lot this season. It would be nice to get another look at him with a full week of practice as the starter, but I doubt that happens.
  • Why were we taking so long to run plays on what turned out to be our final possession? Even if we had scored, there may not have been enough time left on the clock to do anything but kick it onside. There was 8 minutes left when the possession started, and we took 5 minutes off the clock before the INT!
  • I didn't agree with going for 2 on our 3rd quarter TD. That failed attempt ended up leaving us 12 points behind (must score 2 TDs) when we got the ball for the last time with 8 min left in the game, whereas we would have been down by 11 had we just taken the single. Getting too wrapped up in "analytics" and not keeping it a simple risk vs reward decision. Of course, I suppose there is also the possibility that making the try for 2 would have pushed SF to do the same when they scored like a minute later, but in general I am not a huge fan of chasing points unless you are down to the last couple possessions of the game.
  • Late game tantrum set aside, we have to figure out how to get DK involved consistently. There's just no way he should be held to 0 catches for the final 3 quarters when their best cover guy is out of the game. Only 3 targets after the 1st quarter.
  • I like the idea of Jamal Adams, but you can't pay that guy $26.9M against the cap next year when he is a liability in coverage. It will only save $6M before June 1st, but that might be more valuable than what he gives us for 4.5x that much cap space.
  • SF is the best team in the league, and I don't think it's all that close. The AFC is pretty much a disaster, so only a rash of key injuries is keeping the Niners from winning the SB. Purdy is tops in the league in almost every important passing category, and having McCaffrey, Deebo, Aiyuk, and Kittle is just an embarrassment of riches.
I still think Philly is beatable this week. Them and the Hawks both played SF and Dallas in the last 2 games. The Hawks did quite a bit better in both, at least on the scoreboard.

Lock did okay. One interception was stupid (and one of DKs TWO targets after the 1st drive) and one was whatever. There's a reason why DK is frustrated. He was wide open MULTIPLE times downfield against a backup corner. I understand it's a backup QB but Geno is missing those throws as well. I would not be surprised if DK requests a trade in the offseason unless Carroll is fired.

It still blows my mind why Seattle routinely has to snap the ball with 1 second on the playclock ALL the time. I don't get it. You're not throwing off the defense at all when you do that... they know it's comin'... Pete has done this recently for years and defenses have 100% caught on.

Jamal Adams and Diggs are some of the worst safeties in the game (I was hanging on to hope, but after that game Jamal is done - cut him, F trade and signing 100% in hindsight... I was wrong)... yet we are paying the most to our safeties out of any team. Absolutely ridiculous.

SF is the best team in the league (or close), yet we have a defense and even offense littered with high end picks, expensive free agents, trades, etc. It's a COACHING problem. The talent on the 9ers and Seahawks is not THAT big of a gap. What is? The coaching. The coaching gets an AUTO F grade this season. It's absolutely horrid and a lot of people didn't want to come to terms with that in week 1, but it pretty much told ya what ya need to know.

I don't want to beat Philly. I want them to ANNIHILATE us because it's the only way we can move on from Pete who is COMPLETELY washed up (first time losing 4 games in a row with Seattle, about to be 5 times in a row... has the worst points allowed in his career on D and yards allowed is pretty close, coming off last season where it was terrible as well and we did this stupid 2-3 down lineman bullshit and then spent a TON of capital and money on HIS defense).

When Philly annihilates us, if Jody doesn't fire Pete I have zero faith this team will do anything until Jody sells the team. Even if Carroll dies in a couple years, if Jody is still allowing him to coach, the replacement will be just as bad.
