At this point I'm in favor of starting Howell to see what he has.Your probably right.

If he looks really bad this season, would the Seahawks feel forced to draft a QB in 2025? That's my fear, 2025 is not the year to look for your franchise QB.At this point I'm in favor of starting Howell to see what he has.

If Seattle lands the top pick I'd go Dillion Gabriel. I'm no U of Puddles fan but his numbers do speak for themselves this year and his years in Oklahoma. If not than take best O-line available. If he looks really bad this season, would the Seahawks feel forced to draft a QB in 2025? That's my fear, 2025 is not the year to look for your franchise QB.
Haven't watched him, so I have no idea, but he's on his third college team (not something I consider good) and physically doesn't impress (5'11 204) saw a ranking where is was ranked 9th QB in this draft. Not correct, Packers invested a first even with Favre locking down the starter position and then did it again with Rodgers (he didn't like it and they had a big need at WR at the time). Packers drafted other QBs while Favre was QB and would flip them for a profit.
I think you are expecting an awful lot from JS if you think he could trade up and get a Mahomes. We also don't have Andy Reid. So? Chiefs where picking after the Seahawks and already had Alex Smith who was playing the best ball of his career but jumped up to the 10th spot to draft Mahomes.
These are just excuses for JS not acting, and as I said considering where he came from it was weird.
Hey all,
I think that game broke me. This team needs an enema. There is too much talent for them to continue to blow games like this.
#1 I want Schneider out. We got jokes about overpaid and overdrafted OL. Meanwhile the team continues to roll out turnstiles in 3.5/5 OL spots. I also do not trust him to pick the next QB as the instincts he has acted on at that position have been awful minus Russ. I give JS no credit for Geno, that was clearly Pete.
2. I'm out on Ryan Grubb. I supported going for it on 4th down, but when you can't block anybody, going jumbo and inviting all 11 defenders to the line of scrimmage is insanity. Pete fired his OC after 1 year when he took over, and I advocate McDonald to do the same. He did something very similar in the Pats game which was even dumber as they didn't have K9.
I remember those on this board that wanted us to trade up for Richardson... Thank God we didn't... With the way he's looked, that could've set us back quite a bit as a franchise if he doesn't pan out...How how was Favre when they drafted Rodgers? How old was Rodgers when they drafted Love?

Fans are always great at saying what we should have done in hindsight. So of course every fan wanted Stroud and Young or Richardson after the next season. But GMs don't have the luxury of hindsight.
No doubt. That's going to be a complete trainwreck for Indy, and I would be surprised if he isn't out of the league in 3 years.I remember those on this board that wanted us to trade up for Richardson... Yeah, that's my only hesitation in jettisoning JS as well, I too believe in McDonald. But at this point my anger over the perpetual state of the OLine has overcome my fear.Yeah, I stopped short of mentioning Schneider in my post-mortem on the game, but it might be time. My main hesitation on getting fully behind it is I still think Macdonald was a great hire, and I fear a GM switch will potentially lead to not giving Coach Mac a fair chance to grow into the role. A new GM just may have their own designs on who they want for a HC.
Tough one, but it certainly could be that Grubb is not the right fit. The bad OL could be masking our ability to accurately see the situation, though. We've all heard of the "lipstick on a pig" phrase..... well, I think the OL might be the pig here.
I never understood the Richardson want to trade up. I was glad we didn't get stuck with him. I did highly want Stroud though...I remember those on this board that wanted us to trade up for Richardson... Thank God we didn't... Richardson doesn't look like a NFL QB this season but tell us which would be better for a rebuilding team like the Seahawks at this point? A aging declining vet who is 34 years old like Geno who's cap hit this season was 26 million or a 22 year old QB who doesn't look NFL ready but who's cap hit this season is less then 8 million? Geno likely wins the Seahawks more games but won't get the Seahawks to the Super Bowl and likely not even the playoffs. Richardson loses more game (better draft slot) and at age 22 at least has the potential to become better (remember how bad Geno was when he was 22?), cost way less, gives the team a better draft slot. IMO the Seahawks would be better off with Richardson despite how bad he looks. Nothing worse then trying to get by with a expensive (relative to a rookie) mediocre QB who doesn't offer hope for future but may squeeze out a few more wins in a lost season.
So don't attempt to rationalize riding Geno by bring up a QB like Richardson because no matter how bad a rookie plays he's still a better option then riding Geno who provides no hope, is a dead end and expensive in money and draft position going forward. In truth the Seahawks with Pete and JS sold the fans a bad bill of goods with Geno and was a mistake for the franchise.
If the Seahawks are going to come up short better to do so with a rookie then what they have presently which is fools gold except for cost.
