Sooner or later a contract will be agreed on. However the Seahawks in theory could let him play out the 2015 season under his rookie contract, tag him for the 2016 season, tag him for the 2017 and maybe even tag him for the 2018 season. Don't think RW would want that to happen( nor the Seahawks) so it's just a matter of one side blinking first.
Not sure how much RW would care if the franchise tag gets him $25mil a year

Perhaps not, but I doubt he wants to wait years for a long term contract either.

I remember the St Louis Cardinals baseball team being written about as being done if Pulols doesn't sign...and guess what? Still the one of the top performing franchises in the league. Seattle fans shouldn't worry. Two more years, at minimum, of RW leaves a lot of options

Yes. It used to be the "12th man" that the media touted on EVERY Seattle home game.
That moniker is a media driven thing. Watch any Seattle home game is it is always mentioned numerous times throughout the broadcast.
In similar fashion to the Seahawks drafting acumen, we really don't care if you don't like it. It works for us.

Have you ever mentioned that Dallas is known as America's team? It really isn't any different than our fan base being known as 12's. It is perpetuated by the media...

No I never do that. I think it's kind of embarrassing to say things like that. Maybe as a joke, but other than that no.

He would care just like how all the other players care and don't like playing under the tag: no up front money (signing bonus) and none of it guaranteed.

Im not on board with giving russell all that money he is asking for but if him and jimmy graham become a tandem and there is a significant difference in his passing numbers then pay the man especially if we make it back to the superbowl. Now if the passing game is still the bottom of the league and RW shows no sign of progression then I think the hawks should continue to play hardball.

Let the season play out, if russell wants to be paid all that money then win us another superbowl

By the way, I wasn't cracking on you guys. I knew people said that at the games, but I honestly didn't know people walked around calling themselves 12's. I'm guessing it's just the younger fans? Teens and maybe College aged?
