Ok. So what Fa should we sign or who should we draft to be our starter next year?
I've mentioned that plenty of times. Still waiting on how much you're will to spend in drafts picks for JJ.

FA QB's Fields, Darnold, Wilson, Rogers, Lock, Jones, Cousins, Carr, Brissett, Winston, Just to throw out some names and there are even more options when you talk about possible TRADES! and DRAFT.

Ok Flyer now make your obligatory post about how all those guys suck compared to Geno.

I have never seen someone TRY SO HARD to frame a single player as the only option. A bad player at that.

Depends on how much his agent wants for him and what he's willing to settle for. If the price is low enough they will keep him on another short-term unless they feel they have a decent replacement in the wings.

Half the teams in the league have QB's you wouldn't want over Geno so you better have something in the works to let him go.
Possibly 25 to 30mil per year? I don't think Seattle will get him under 20mil.

I see we are now at the straw man creation phase.

I don't care about Geno Smith. Don't care if he's the starter next year.

What I DON'T want is change for the sake of change. Clearly that's what you want.

lol Daniel Jomes and Cousins

Fields looked better under Steelers coaches and could be had much cheaper than Geno
I know he's rated lower than the top 5 QBs but Dillion Gabriel can be had in the 3rd round.
If the FO is trading for JJ hopefully for a 4th rounder.

At least you get it, Flyer just wants to "frame it" so Geno is the only option then try to lie to everyone and say " No im not doing that i just like adding endless rules is all that favor Geno as the only option"

Fields stats out on average better than Geno and its not even that close. Hell Daniel Jones on a MUCH worse team has stats simular to Geno's .. again ON A MUCH WORSE TEAM lmao.

I've been saying the same thing for the past 3 weeks on solutions yet he hasn't answered a very simple question on JJ.

Fields if played the full 17 would have had between 28 to 32 TDs. Goes to show good coaching can make a bad QB look descent. That Bears FO seems clueless. As for Geno we have good coaching cause he was awful in Jets land but he's hit his ceiling. He's not a bad QB but he'll never be a great QB to get you to the next level like Russ did for us.

What question have I not answered?

Why do you think Fields was traded for only a 6th round pick?

We have seen the VERY best from Geno and that was worth 9-8. He will never have a better season than he did in 2022 when no one had a VCR to play his film to study him. 2nd half of 2022 wasn't all that good. 2023 was average at best and this year again average at best. We got a WR room that can CARRY a bad QB to average why waste it on Geno.

Now I will say if they cut Geno they need to bring back Lockett or DK or both on restructures and you continue to build the defense.

And why do you think Sam Darnold was RELEASED, and why do you think Baker Mayfield was RELEASED? again you are trying to find and excuse.

in other news
The Lions are showing why a running game is SO important. 152 yards rushing so far. Feels like a playoff game.

What are you giving up for the injured JJ?

Average to below average play in Chicago plus nobody is going to give Fields that 5th yr extension. 6th rounder was the best.
Now before you say how bad he was we have a sample size of his play in Chicago under poor coaches/FO and what we saw in Pittsburg with good coaches and stable FO. If you believe in our coaching staff/FO than Fields is a good choice on the cheap short contract while finding the QBoF.

Dont forget he is young and maybe it clicks. Guy is only 25 years old. Good coaching can change a players career.

back in 2023 I wanted the Hawks to pick O'connell in the 4th.

I'll admit Geno did way more than what I thought he would do coming over from Jets land and he kept us playoff relevant but it's time to move on to get better, become contenders for the division title and more.

I'm all for keeping DK. He's a weapon coming into his prime and I would hate to see him land with a contender or inside our division. I'm good with TL sticking around another year or 2 if the price is right.

Exactly and a great example of that is Sam Darnold.
I wasn't a Baker Mayfield fan but his last 2yrs he's been solid.

I believe I did answer that. I said that Cowherd had speculated that the Hawks trade a 2nd and a 4th for him. I doubt that would be enough to get him but who knows?

He wasn't nearly as good in Pittsburgh as you are suggesting. I've watched Fields a fair amount and I've never found him all that impressive. Now I could certainly be wrong and if the coaches see something in him, I'm fine with making the move. But I don't think that Fields would do well with this offensive line.

Darnold is a good example of what happens when you put a QB into a great situation where they have a very good OL, 2 elite WRs, and a strong running game.

I would love to move on from Geno with a better QB. But hope and prayers aren't a solution.

I actual loved having Geno as our Back-up and thought he was more than capable of playing .500 ball and maybe better for us if Wilson went down for a season. But i also am not fooking blind and know what a lame duck QB is. I was wrong I know it, i put faith in Geno when i shouldn't have. He is what he has always been a turnover prone QB with a great arm and a weak mind.
