The only time you can use one teams performance against another team as the sole evidence that a particular member of that team is better than a particular member of the other team... is when they're playing 1-on-1.

And even back then, I'm pretty sure it was still 5-on-5.
But Chamberlain was under the illusion that his size made him equivalent to 2 or more normal players.

Russ and his teammates milked that big-time.

So how come Russell's Celtics beat Chamberlaiin's Lakers such a large majority of the time.

NO WAY was it entirely a matter of the teammates!

RUSSELL UNDERSTOOD THE GAME BETTER THAN THE STILT DID!

RUSSELL>>>>>>>CHAMBERLAIN.

You still haven't explained why he was a top 50 or top 500. He played with great players, congrats.

I've noticed only the celtics fans are sticking up for Russell.

I HAVE explained that the Stilt played with some great ones too.

I can't prove it but suspect that most of Wilt's teammates would have gladly traded him for William Felton Russell given the chance.

It's apparent that you aren't old enough to have seen Russell play.
He could do two things that Wilt Chamberlain could never do.
1. Dribble a basketball
2. Shoot a basketball from beyond 3 feet and make it.

Wilt Chamberlain was a great basketball player and it's always been argued as to who was better.....
him or Russell. To totally exclude Bill Russell from any list of great NBA players is total ignorance of the game.

OR is the drivel of a Lakers fan.
Wilt was a great 1-on-1 player but not so great at 5-on-5.

The NBA is 5-on-5 and the Celtics forget that less often than most franchises.

If you want to start a thread on the NBA's greatest 1-on-one players go ahead.

Wilton Norman Chamberlain WOULD rate a spot on that list.

The Big Fundamental needs to replace Bill Russell on the top 50. It's past time.
