The more I think about it the less it makes sense to have the pitchers on the same list with the other players. That's like trying to list the top 100 cops/criminals.

Go to Cooperstown and go into the room where they have the plaques of all time leaders.

He's #1 in runs, steals, and walks

Putting him at #23 is laughable. No one impacted a game more than that motherfucker.
Rickey Henderson was the most annoying player in MLB History ... Annoying is good when they are on your team. Best Leadoff Hitter ever. #23 is a little low, there are some great names up there ... I'd put him at about #15!!

Pedro ahead of the rocket?, even that far ahead of Koufax?, nah

Pedro had a far superior ERA+ (154 to 131) and pitched 503 more innings... and outside of Koufax's 1961-66, he wasn't very good.

Ken Griffey Jr is #57 in the all time WAR list. I get that everyone loves Griffey and his tools but he didnt have the career to get to #13.

Sign me up for the 'Henderson needs to be higher' fanclub, too

he's a bit overrated as a hitter. Don't get me wrong, he was a great hitter but there were only a few years you could really consider him the best hitter in his league (only four top five OPS+ finishes). He was a great power hitter but his era was full of power hitters and he only had two top 10 finishes in OBP. Griffey's best OPS+ (171 in 1993 and 1994) would be the 12th best of Bonds' career.

I never saw Koufax pitch, but I still believe he is one of, if not THE most over rated players in the history of the game. His epic window was just not big enough to rate with Mathewson, Maddux, Clemens, Johnson (x2), etc

You can be overrated and still be legit great.

He's the Ralph Kiner of starting pitchers. Kiner had 5-6 great year but was pretty meh otherwise.

I still think he was great. 76.2 WAR in his first twelve seasons is nothing to scoff at. But people seem to just look at those years, his home run total and ignore the fact that he fell off a cliff in Cinci (he was still a good hitter as a Red, but his defense cratered and he couldn't stay healthy).

I'd take Koufax over Pedro any day. Those 6 years were the best of any pitcher, he was unstoppable ( except for Arthur Itis ) Ending his career at a peak has an untold story about him, Of the pitcher I saw, Clemmens, Maddux are the only two who had tougher stuff for a 6-year span.

I figure he should be somewhere around Pujols in the rankings. Maybe people just remember Pujols falling off more because it's more recent.

He put on a lot of weight as well, but no one wants to notice that.

Not saying. Just saying.

Oscar Charleston at 53 sticks out to me. Like who the fuck is that? I have heard of 99 out of 100 of those players.
Oscar Charleston may have been the best baseball player of all times. Willie Mays said he wanted to be half the player he was. Satchel Paige said there was no way to pitch to him. He was also one of the fastest guys in the ***** Leagues. And the best defensive center fielder. Had he been able to play in the majors, I think he would have been a perennial all star and top 2 or 3 in the MVP voting.

N egroe League All Star games started the same year MLB All Star games did. (1933)

He was a three time AS. Was 36 the first selection (1933)and 38 his last selection.

The BBWA MVP didn’t start until 1931. Babe Ruth won an MVP once. (Two time ALL Star.)

One of the most underrated players on the list. He’s a top 5 player all time most likely. But he was an AS as many times in segregated baseball as he would’ve been had the game been integrated.

I've read some things about him today. But it's weird, I've been a baseball fan for decades and I'm pretty sure I never heard that name before. Every other name on that list I'm pretty familiar with except for Pete Alexander. (mainly because I always heard him called Grover Cleveland).

Griffey was at least putting up some offensive numbers when he was in the lineup up until his last 3 years. Pujols has been brutal for 6 straight seasons. His average WAR since 2016 is a negative number. Miggy is another guy who is working on a pretty good stretch of mediocrity

Serious, never heard of the guy. I looked him up today and didn't see any movies about him. I'm sure he's in the ***** league hall of fame, but I've never been there. He sounds like he deserves a movie or something.

He’s been in Cooperstown longer than I’ve been alive.

Doubt we see a movie. He wasn’t the nicest guy.
