It also helped that they were 5 1/2 out of first place at the beginning of the streak and up 7 games over the Indians when the streak ended…..
MVP is NOT an award for the BEST player. It is an award for the most VALUABLE.

Well they both had really great years so let's not lose our heads over this.

True but it has become known as the best player award. That is the weight it is being given in these polls as well.
How is it any different to the BPOT?

Bum was NOT the BPOT on the ‘14 Giants, but he absolutely was the only story of the championship.

My only point is that maybe too much weight is being given to MVPs awarded to players. It says something about the players, true, but it doesn't mean the player was the best in the league that year. Yogi Berra is the best example I've seen so far. By measure of best seasons, he was not even top 5 in any of those 3 seasons.

How about 1942? It seems like Ted was head and shoulders above everyone else that year as well and came in 2nd in the voting.
He had a lot of 2nds that should have been firsts

You could easily argue for Mantle in 1955 and 1958…..

By the numbers.

But catchers are not a “by the numbers” position.

I have no idea what you are getting at. Media types are well known for remaining unbiased and net letting their personal feels leak into their stories.
lol … check that link out . It shows what types those baseball writers must’ve been … uneducated, lousy pay, but the best life one could wish for … they were like baseball bums

Yeah much better gig than playing with dead bodies and trying to get some judge to grant you a "coroner's inquest" every week

Classic comedy show, Klugman and Randall had amazing timing and chemistry……
