Very much true, there has never been a player in the league of his size that has his athleticism that does what he does. He is as much of a freak as Lebron, if not moreso.

As a long-time Bostonian I'm biased in favor of Kevin Garnett and would like to see Paul Pierce added to the list.

Iverson had the talent but was a head case. No to him.

We were in West LA during UCLA's dominant years (I was even born at UCLA and my Dad worked at the Riviera Country Club close to Westwood) and my Dad, like most of LA at that time, was a huuuuuuuge UCLA basketball fan. His favorite player was Dave Meyers, but if you get him started talking about those teams, he'll tell you that Big Red was the greatest college basketball player ever. It's amazing to watch those teams and how the other four players on the team took off when Big Red got a rebound and before he hit the ground the outlet pass was already gone.

Yep. And the cast he had on his Champion team in Portland was much the same. Didn't hurt having the a enforcer, Mo Lucas at the 4.

Walton should be top 5 on everyone's greatest college player. And was just as dominant in the NBA early before the feet problems.

You are probably right but he was a great player, I'd take him over Pippen any day.

He was absolutely a great player but I think people in this era and the next will wonder where the rest of his game is.

Next to Bill Russell, Scottie Pippen is easily the most overrated player on that list.

There are some weak spots on that Top 50 team, absolutely room for Duncan, Kobe, Lebron and KD. From a pure numbers standpoint Rick Barry, Dave Bing, Bob Cousy, Dave Cowens, Hal Greer, Sam Jones, Scotty Pippen and a few others are easily replaceable.

Pippen was unguardable because if you guarded him, MJ's one-on-one, so don't Pippen is unguardable! ;) (Not that double teaming would stop MJ, just over thousands of possessions, it must have made him pass to a guy who misses when he would have made it.)

The other 5 hall of famers on those teams > Bill Russell

The dude was never the best player on his own team yet alone the league.

People bash Lebron for teaming up with (freaking Chris Bosh???) as some unfair loaded team
of immortals when he wins to devalue his ability.

Yet people worship the most over-rated player in the history of the NBA who played with an entire team of HOF players when he wins to over-value his ability.

To rephrase something I said elsewhere, try convincing any of Russell's HOF teammates he's overrated.

I doubt you'd have any luck at all in that endeavor.

I do not know enough about a lot of those 50 to say which ones I would kick off.

I think it is a tie between Kobe and Duncan as to who is currently most deserving. Both are in their twilight years and even though I think LBJ is the superior player to both of them I think because their careers are almost over it means they should be in more so.

How Reggie Miller is not higher on that list is beyond me though.

I would also put Bill Russell on the list twice :P @Hammer :D

For that matter you'd probably have trouble convincing Wult Chamberlain or any of his teammates that Russell shouldn't be on this "Greatest" list.
