If Martin would shorten that swing a bit he'd have gotten that.

No, I'd rather have Elvis playing SS, Baker at DH, and Moreland at 1B. Moreland hits 30 points higher against lefties than Profar.

Elvis is getting a day off the field. I'm okay with it.

If he needs a day off from the field, then why not against a RHP when Profar's bat will be much more useful?

Resting EA probably the reason and that's ok.

Anytime you can get AB's to Profar you do it. Not to say your strategy is wrong but I think the maneuvering is fine today.

Because we're facing a bunch of lhp.

They face Iwakuma on Tuesday. I wouldn't think having Elvis play in the field for 3 more games and then give him a rest would burn him out.

So if Profar's AVG. keeps plummeting and he keeps failing with men on base, you have to still keep forcing at-bats his way when it's hurting the team in a close pennant race?

It all adds up in a 162 game season. Yes managing that day is important but trying to manage for the season is more important.

Have to agree with this. Profar is getting plenty of bats, it's not Spring Training and EA has sat plenty of games

Yes it's a tight pennant race but it's August 24th right now. He's up and down batting from the right side but he's also a guy that's still progressing and still has a good eye at the plate for many AB's. For today I am fine with it. If it's later on then we can look at it then but for tonight I think it's just fine.

You honestly think health-wise there's a difference in resting Elvis tonight instead of 3 days from now?

You guys constantly hammer on Wash for little things like gambling on leaving a starter in for one too many batters but you give him a pass on an obvious lineup gaffe such as this one.

EA doesn't need any more "rest" they've all sat plenty. (I'm agreeing)

So much for Wash not playing rookies.
I'm fine with getting Profar bats, but he can sit too.

He was 4-7 with the bases loaded before that AB.

maybe this has been answered already, but can someone explain to me why Darvish is still pitching strictly from the stretch? I am pretty sure he pitched from the windup in Japan and I thought the reasoning behind it last year was to get him comfortable in the majors and with the smaller baseball? so why is he still doing it?
