They would be great
He is coming fast. Just a few mo the ago he seemed to be destined to ne a reliever. Now, not only is he considered a starring pitcher, but is growing in every way possible to where he is probably our best starting pitcher prospect. If we had to bring a starting pitcher up next week, I think he would be the one who would do the best. He isn't ready yet, but is well on his way to being ready. He is making strides very quickly.

I am working on an article for The Prospect Times about who the Rangers might select in the first round next week. I think we are going to have the chance to pick up a very talented and promising player. There are several really good players who will be available around the time we get to pick at number 30.

If Ray wasn't willing to spend without TV certainty this year, what is there to make anybody think he's going to spend next year without TV?

Was it Ray or was it CY. I believe that CY went to Ray told him they didn’t need to spend. That they were good with what they have.

From Evan Grant:

Forget about 60-game stretches at the minute. If the Rangers don’t win about 70% of their next 20 games it’s probably going to be time to act. How difficult is that going to be? Their 4-3 win over Tampa Bay Saturday, behind a Marcus Semien two-out, two-run seventh-inning homer, gave them four wins in their last six games. Good, but they’d still have to go 10-4 over to have a .700 winning percentage for a 20-game stretch. They haven’t played better than 12-8 in any stretch this year.

They are going to have to show something they haven’t yet shown in 2024 to force Young to tell interested callers he might get back to them.

“I don’t think anybody here is unaware of our situation,” Saturday starter Andrew Heaney said. “Winning one of three isn’t going to cut it, winning two of three barely does. We need to win more games.”

I think it was the TV deal that forced Ray's decision. I think CY would have certainly brought back Montgomery and maybe even Garver.

For long term success the team needs to produce from within their system and then supplement with free agents. With starting pitching they have done the opposite of that. We have to stop letting guys like Ragans, Englert, Slaten, Roby, and others go.

Since 5/1, Adolis García, currently in an 0 for 11 & 2 for 28 stretch, has a .175/.247/.327/.574 OPS and -0.9 WAR per fangraphs. It is tied with Jo Adell for the worst fWAR in that stretch

From Jeff Wilson:

The Rangers aren't a contender right now. At 41-48 and in third place in the American League West, they are closer to the fourth-place Angels than second-place Astros. The Rangers trail the first-place Mariners by seven games.

Things don't look any better in the wild-card standings, where the Rangers are 7 1/2 games out of the final berth with three teams ahead of them and another tied.

If the Rangers haven't climbed within a few games of .500 by the final week of the month, the defending World Series champions might become sellers at the July 30 trade deadline.

"I'm trying to put off the decision as long as I can," general manager Chris Young said. "Ultimately, I believe in this team. I believe in this group. I know that we've had some bad breaks and we haven't played as well as we can. I like to think our best baseball is still ahead of us, but it needs to start soon."

Evan indicated that even those players eligible to make a lot in arbitration could be considered to be traded by the Rangers.

They still got tv money. And it isn’t like they didn’t make money off of the World Series. I’m glad they didn’t bring back Montgomery. He’s been terrible.

That ball had Seager home run written all over it 20 feet before it was at home plate.

From Jared Sandler:

Wyatt Langford's sprint speed was measured at 31.1 ft/sec, 2nd fastest of his career (31.2 earlier this year) and in MLB's 99th percentile.

I fully expect Bochy to put Garcia at the 4 hole tomorrow night.

Because of course he will.
