The most impressive lesser-known Rangers position prospect I saw in Surprise was 3B Rafe Perich. Very good eye, plenty of raw power and plays a good 3B. Switch hitter with double-plus hair. Hit a HR in 2 of the 3 G this weekend. Definitely a kid to watch.

Cody Freeman is hitting over 300 at AAA also.

Yeah, I can't recall anything that drastic happening to one our young pitchers before. He has been awful since about his second or third outing in spring training.

I don't think Vlad Jr's contract will age well, but most longterm deals do not. Semien's 7 year deal will not, and probably even Seager's will not. DeGrom's contract didn't even begin well. It is just the nature of the beast that baseball has become.
