An MRI Wednesday morning confirmed the strain, though Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Langford reported to the clubhouse feeling “pretty good.”

This is Langford’s second oblique ailment in as many months. He missed a portion of spring training due to a strained oblique, though he did recover in time to be in the Rangers’ opening day lineup.

“I’ve kind of had it for a couple days, just like sore, not really bad at all,” Langford said after Tuesday’s loss. “I mean, obviously I’ve been able to play through it. I think I’m hoping a couple days and back to it.

“One day last week it felt kind of weird and then it went away. Today was the first time I really felt it since then.”

Langford, who hit his fourth homer of the season in the third inning and doubled to start the sixth, said he felt the twinge on the first swing of his seven-pitch at-bat against Porter Hodge in the seventh.

The decision to recall both Duran and Harris could mean that Josh Smith will get some of the time in left field while Langford is out. That would make the need for a more offensive minded utility infielder necessary.

I think either the 19th or 20th. So, during the Dodgers series.

I wish they would realize Taveras is never going to amount to more than a good stretch of 15 to 25 games, once or twice a year.
