Pederson has to get better or it will be one of the worst free agent signings in major leauge history.

Garcia and Semien may not get that much better. Hopefully Carter comes back and helps the team like in 2023.

If the pitching holds up they can get in by the skin of their teeth again. I would go after Kyle Finnegan at the trade deadline if he continues pitching like he has. He’s a real closer. I don’t think Jackson has the emotional makeup to be one.
Do you have any hope of Sborz being able to take over the closer role?

I am surprised I received no reaction to bringing in a pitcher out of the bullpen with 2 outs in the inning for no reason. Armstrong and Milner both pitched well. Why would you not let them finish the inning and let the next pitcher who will come into the game keep warming up in the pen until the start of the next inning. He is not doing any favor to either Milner when he came back out or to Webb when he did in the 9th.

The other issue I had was why would you rest Garcia on a day we are facing a LHer and essentially replace Garcia with Ahmed. Do it against a RHer and keep Smith at short and let one of either Harris, Pillar and Taveras play CF and RF. Ahmed needs to be a last resort and do not weaken the defense further with Smith in RF.

I don't like it when he does that either.

My understanding is a player’s day off are scheduled many games in advance so it’s difficult to know for sure who will be pitching for the other team.

Could it be pitch count or pitch count added from the day before or Bochy didn’t like that particular match up or if you end the inning you don’t need to face 3 batters? (I’m not sure about that rule). I don’t know why and wasn’t paying that much attention to it because he’s done that before.

From Scott Lucas:

Cole Winn is up to 17.2 nearly scoreless innings. Earlier this month, he allowed an unearned run on two walks and his own throwing error. He's yet to permit an extra-base hit and has fanned 18.

That sounds like they might want to consider some more flexibility with the lineup.

Evan Carter is off today as well. He had played in 3 straight before today.

This is a CY quote from Evan Grant's article. This is the kind of take I dislike very much. When folks blame groups they usually do so to keep from having to blame or confront individuals. They let the individuals hide behind the group. This kind of take is like an infectious disease in all of team sports. It seems is is always the kind of thing that is said in the world of team sports.

"'Everyone shares responsibility for our offensive struggles,” Young said via text. “From the front office, to the coaches and players. We believe in the personnel we have and we are working hard to find solutions to our early season struggles. We are evaluating all aspects of our offense and how we will improve. It’s a collective effort and I am confident we will find the right answers and turn this around.”'

Should flip Harris and Pederson in the lineup. Harris has more speed. Pederson has more nothing. If Pederson can’t hit batting 8th he can’t hit batting 3rd. It’s not about his multi-year million dollar contract, it’s about what have you done for the team lately.

And he said this last also. How did that work out. Doing the same thing over and over is insane.
