Series Thread: Rangers Host the White Sox For Four Games July 22-25

I will take a 4 game sweep against the Sox. In May we lost all 3 to a terrible Rockies team, lost 2 out of 3 to the Angels. In June 2 out of 3 to Detroit, Mets, San Diego, Giants and all 3 to Seattle and Milwaukee, 3 out of 4 to Baltimore.

Not pretty but effective. Bats doing better but not totally clicking. Keep at it we may get hotter than this

I would still go after him. They will need a closer next season. If they don’t resign Yates.

Almost mandatory we get hotter and score more runs. Current number of rpg will not suffice.

Everything has a "bottom line". In our case, we must figure out how to score more runs. That is the bottom line. Does not matter if we buy or sell or pitch great etc etc. How we do it and if we do it I do not know, but at this time CY had better find out and that is the bottom line.

No, the selling consideration is over now.

I only pull to sell when we should sell. This team played most of this year and most of last year like they should have sold at this deadline. If that had continued the smart thing would have been to sell. They hit Chicago on the schedule just in the nick of time.

They simply cannot sell at this point. Now, i don't think we should be major buyers either. We need to strengthen the bench despite Grossman having a good day. We are set everywhere else, I believe.

You mean like Scherzer and Eovaldi did and like Mahle and deGrom will have to. His stretching out is no different than theirs. The main difference is he pitched better than those guys did, and oh, he also has a lot less seniority.

Going on the DL is one thing, going on the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man is a whole different ballgame. They can't fake that.

Exactly, that prolonged underachieving is what made most folks think we should sell. In the offseason the team needs to find out how to keep that from happening next year. A veteran or two probably needs to go

Yes it will be difficult to keep winning games scoring 3 runs even with good pitching

After the postseason Jung and Carter had last year, I am willing to roll with them.

I just think they can greatly upgrade the offense from the bench. Now, maybe Huff and Fiscur can do a lot of that internally. I imagine they need a really good bench bat via trade though.

The problem is, the teams with thise kind if guys available, do bot want our rental pitchers in return, and I don't want to trade any pitchers who are under control beyond this year.

I wonder if the rush to play Jung is so they can know about just how well he is physically, before the deadline. If he can put their minds at ease this weekend, it might mean one less trade they have to make.
