okay, got it, it would be a waste of time bringing anyone upThere just isn't enough playing games time to do that. It will be hard getting Foscue and Harris enough playing time. Crim would get very little. A fourth guy would get next to nothing without a rash of injuries, and if that happened the DL would be utilized.
If they don't plan on Taveras being a part of the team next year, and that is a huge "if", then they want to get something back for him. Him being on the roster will not prevent a single prospect from receiving playing time, if the Rangers do not want him to play.
They did not DFA him, so it is obvious they want to keep him until the end of the season, at least. I am just stating one obvious reason why they could be doing that. The other reason would be that they intend on him being on the 2025 roster. I hope it is the former.
We will get something for him in trade should we decide to trade him in 3 months. After all, we got something for Elvis and the White Sox got something for Grossman. Taveras has more to offer a team than either of those two did at the time.
