He's been hot in the last month or so.

Evan says he thinks Eovaldi has hit a contract incentive in innings pitched which gives him an additional $750,000.

From Rangers PR:

Nathan Eovaldi recorded a season high-tying 10 strikeouts (2x, also 7/24 vs. CWS) over 7.0 scoreless innings today (7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 10 SO), becoming the 6th pitcher (10th instance) in club history with 7.0+ SHO IP, one-or-zero hits allowed, and 10+ SO in a single start.

From Rangers PR:

Corey Seager's home run in the 4th inning today in Chicago was the 200th HR of his career, making him the 15th primary shortstop (min. 50% of G at SS) in MLB history with 200+ HR. He is the 1st left-handed hitting shortstop ever (excl. switch-hitters) to reach 200 HR.
That's a very surprising stat to me re: left-hand hitting SS. Damn glad we got him, and I'm not at all being vicious.

The Rangers sweep the sorry Sox for the season.

Great game from Eovaldi and Seager.

Since the Angels signed Anthony Rendon before the 2020 season, they have had to play 28 different guys at third base.

From Kiley McDaniel:

MLB avoided a problem today with a few players hitting waivers, unlike last year's Angels-led cavalcade.

Among the less than 10 players on today's list: Tommy Pham (STL), Robbie Grossman, Travis Jankowski (TEX), and Nicky Lopez (CHW), per sources.

From Evan Grant:

Rangers won't confirm waiver placements, but this would not be surprising. They'll need a couple of spots in September for callups, gives a couple of vets potential chance at being claimed by a contender. Janko can obviously help someone on defense; Grossman vs. LHP. If unclaimed, they can stay with Rangers.

i think they will need 1 more to bring up Crim & a 4th of'er + Harris and Foscue

They have Langford, Taveras, Garcia, Smith, and Duran already for the OF. Harris gives them a 6th OF.

i know that i would be more inclined to use Smith & Duran also as rotating DH and to give Jung, Seager, Semien and Lowe rest and i would DFA Taveras which is why i would promote Fabian for the last month of the season. i would also promote Crim, Foscue and Harris

The problem with DFAing Taveras is that he has some trade value. If they don't want him in 2025, and that is not a given, then they would want to get something back in trade for him.

are we talking about the same guy? including him in a trade with a couple upper-level prospects might bring us something good but by himself we'd be lucky to get a half bag of batting practice balls
