not looking to cause an issue but we brought up Leiter to pitch Game 2 yesterday, but we have 14 pitchers on the active roster so 1 has to go down prior to today's game. i noticed that Urena seemed to be limping as he left the field after the 8th showing a possible hamstring injury so maybe it's him. but if not whom?

I wonder if there is any consideration being given to Teodo coming up to start Sunday. He has to be placed on the 40-man in the offseason, anyway.

They could simply let both Urena and Heaney go 3 innings apiece. They limit Heaney's starts to twice through the lineup so he is really just a long reliever who starts the game. He should be able to pitch 3 innings on 3 days rest.

From Jamey Newberg:

Smith in RF is interesting (zero appearances there in the majors or minors) and I don't hate it.

I think it is Leiter it he goes nowhere and is the Sept 1 callup with Foscue and hopefully one more if Max goes to the 60 day

I want Leiter to get 5 more starts for the Rangers this season. And I don't care about the results...well, just a little.

Basically let him get his mind and mechanics as comfortable as possible facing big league hitters on a regular basis.

If he goes 0-5 with an ERA north of 6.00...so be it. It is still invaluable experience for him. And it gives everyone a fresh perspective on his trajectory.

with Eovaldi, Mahle. Bradford, deGrom, Gray, Heaney, Rocker, Teodo, etc you might get 1 or 2 because others also want Rocker and Teodo to be added to the 40 and brought up and get multiple starts. with only 29 starts left for Leiter to get 5 starts and Rocker and Teodo getting multiple starts (2-5 each) the math doesn't work. (notice i didn't even count Scherzer)

Yeah, Leiter technically hasn't been brought up to send down as the doubleheader rule doesn't really count as a recall. So he will have to be activated before his next start.

I think that is basically the plan for him.

I'd be very surprised if Mahle or Scherzer throw another pitch for Texas this season. Rocker coming up would surprise me as well. Teodo is a possibility for a couple spot starts.

Congratulations to Rangers prospects OF Yeremy Cabrera, 1B Pablo Guerrero, and OF Braylin Morel, who have been selected as Arizona Complex League Postseason All-Stars in voting by league managers.

A Bani, DR native, Guerrero is the son of 16-year MLB veteran and Hall-of-Famer Vladimir Guerrero.

From Rangers PR:

Corey Seager's home run in the 4th inning today in Chicago was the 200th HR of his career, making him the 15th primary shortstop (min. 50% of G at SS) in MLB history with 200+ HR. He is the 1st left-handed hitting shortstop ever (excl. switch-hitters) to reach 200 HR.
