Don't trade him for nothing. Come on Terps! Sign him and trade him in the offseason alone or in a package for a decent starter.

I am okay with us trading him I was just wondering what the problem with August was. I know they have to go thru the waiver wire but cant we still get something decent once we have a trading partner?

I'm OK with it too though it will open up a whole we need to fill in the off season. But Terps tone is troubling as if we would have done better if this was done yesterday. What makes August different than July?

I know a lot of folks wanted Rios traded but the offers probably weren't all that great and I still believe that JD isn't dismissing playing for 2015. With everyone to be back and healthy next season I think they could be right back in the mix of things and competing for the division. As for Tiny E I am certainly disappointed over his last couple of seasons but given that he is 25 or 26 he can still easily bounce back. The not being super active trade deadline appears to indicate that the organization hasn't lost total sight on 2015.

Well, we're not oging to get a major league ready starter for him that's for sure.

Unless he shows more power he's not going to bring anything above a good AA starter, or AAA reliever IMO.

I'm thinking along the same lines, and I'm ok with that, he's replaceable and not very hard to replace either

Internally only: If the 2015 season started tomorrow we'd have Yu #1, Holland #2 (Please Lord) and Lewis at #4 (optimistically) but #5 probably/hopefully. This leaves Martinez, Mikolas, Tepesch, Ogando, Scheppers for 2 other starters. Notice I make no mention of Harrison. He's gone IMO. And who knows if JD/RW want to move Ogando/Tanner back to the BP or not.

In the pen we'd have Cotts (ideally), Baker, Feierabend, Feliz, Mendez, Tolleson, Patton (hopefully).

Not horrid IMO, but we certainly need at least one good ST.

Throw Matt West, Knebel an probably even Joe Ortiz in that conversation in the bullpen, Poreda as well

So we need 2 starters, I believe the bullpen will sort its self out, we have lots of talented young arms, the key is Feliz in the closer role

I'm sorta against it. You won't hardly get anything for him. But the common sentiment is that they wanna get rid of his salary and upgrade. IDK how. This is just what my friend told me. There was hardly any details, but they were there until 9 30 last night

Throw Klein into that mix of young talented arms as you mentioned.

Yup, good catch

Not to mention Ross, whatever his future ends up being

And can't count out LuJax and Chi Chi at this rate, though I think Chi Chi is about a year away and LuJax is about half a year away

In all fairness we were never going to get much for him, I don't know why people thought we would

I am okay with a AA or AAA starter as well for Rios as long as he has a good upside. Nothing wrong with stocking for the future as well.

Thinking that was too much for Rios. Sure they would have jumped on that.

Right, forgot to even mention those guys along with Claudio. There are a number of possibilities coming from the minors. Combined with those we just picked up for Rios and Frasor and some we have at AA/AAA we seemed to have improved in that area. Fans have to realize that even a lot of the pitchers being used at the MLB level should really still be in the minors. So we add 2 SPs we may be good to go now and down the road.

Not sure what I did to multi quote there but it was suppose to be on my previous pits about picking up a AA/AAA pitcher for Rios.
