Not sure what I did to multi quote there but it was suppose to be on my previous pits about picking up a AA/AAA pitcher for Rios.

I'm ok with keeping Cotts, a veteran in a young BP is not a bad thing, plus he's cheap right now

Now might be the time I give youngster's a few months in the bigs. And I'm talking guys like Claudio and ChiChi. What the hell, right? Unless there's something in their contract that makes them available to us one less year, i dont really see why we wouldnt... and im unaware of any clauses of these kind

Do we take a flyer on Jim Johnson now that the A's have released him?? Get him really cheap, he doesn't work out, cut him loose...

Throw Matt West, Knebel an probably even Joe Ortiz in that conversation in the bullpen, Poreda as well

So we need 2 starters, I believe the bullpen will sort its self out, we have lots of talented young arms, the key is Feliz in the closer role

completely forgot about Ortiz and Knebel. And you're right, the BP should take care of it's ills on it's own. But I am not sold on Poreda just yet.

I'm not really worried about our bullpen. As JTA said, we got dudes chomping at the bit. I would say that even Chi Chi most likely has a future in the pen as a Mike Adams- like guy. We definitely need starters though. And as bad as our luck has been in free agency with pitching, we're most likely gonna have to trade.

ChiChi might end up a BP guy but thats a ways down the road, I'm sure he gets every chance to start until he shows he can't hack it

I think, ideally, in 2 years time (approximately when he'll be in the bigs) you'll have Yu, MP, DH, JT and then a guy we get via a trade this offseason. I want ChiChi to get his chances for sure. I'm just not sure how good of a big league starter he can be because his stuff isn't overwhelming. He looks just like a Mike Adams when I see his stuff and even mechanics. I think you give him a few starts + a shot in ST, see how he looks against big league comp, and if you dont like it you convert him for sure.

But then again, idk if mike adams ever started in his career either...

I think you're jumping the gun a bit on Thompson, a lot can happen between now and 2 years from now, I wouldn't be anointing him as anything yet, kid just made it to AA

You are ever so correct. We should all know what can happen in a very short time.

I however am worried about the bullpen as none of these young guys have proved anything at the ML level yet and while they look good at the lower levels and have potential we all know that doesn't always translate to getting out ML hitters. Especially in later innings when the pressure is higher

so what do we do in 2015? MP won't be available until late in the season so we have Yu and Derek + ? to get us thru the2015 season.
