never said Rodgers or Brady was going to win it - as a matter of fact, I voted for Ryan

but the public perception and media love affair for both will take votes away from Ryan and that is a fact
I think Brady will win personally. Story is too good for the media to pass on .

Matt Ryan is my pick for the following reasons:

1. STATS. He's 2nd in the league in total passing yards, passing yards per game, and touchdown-to-int difference. He's #1 in the league in yards per attempt at 9.3. Nobody comes closer to Mattie Ice here. Nobody.

2. WINNING. He helped his team get the 2nd seed in the NFC and win 11 regular season games.

3. HE DESERVES IT. Brady has 5 MVP trophies. Rodgers are 3. Matty Ice has none and deserves recognition for his greatness for this season and previous seasons.
NFL Strength of Schedule 2016, NFL Teams Strength of Schedule 2016

2016 strength of schedule for each team

2016 NFL strength of schedule: 49ers, Falcons at No. 1, Packers at No. 32

Here's another point to add to your list: Atlanta had a much tougher schedule than anybody who matters in the MVP race.

I don't follow GB but I watched them last night. Their RB's avg'd 6 yards a carry last night and had over 100 yards on like 17 carries by Ripkowski and Montgomery. Montgomery avg's 6 yards a carry for the season and Lacy was doing over 5 before injury. Blount for NE avg's 3.9 yards a carry but leads in TDs . Some teams choose to throw inside the 5 while some hand off the rock. Their O line seemed like they gave Rodgers of plenty of time to throw. again this is based of what I saw in 1 game
The Packers have one of the best o-lines in the league. If you don't have them in the top 3 in the league you're underrating them.

Strength of Schedule today is a far better indicator than SOS in July

Today, I believe Miami and New England have the weakest SOS for the 2016 season
nope seattle does teams they played were 99-126-1
ne/mia tied for 3rd 102-121-3

Heres the 5 easiest

Hawks
cards-102-122-2
phins
pats
titans-106-120

5 hardest

broncs---125-100-1
eagles--124-98-4
chargers-122-104
raiders-119-107
chiefs-118-108

All those links someone posted is for teams record last year which is useless:suds:

Beating quality teams does nothing but make your team look worse by those standards. If you give them a loss, the easier it is to theoretically beat them because it's based on win/loss records.

I voted for Zeke because I loved Land of the Lost. Is that racist?

Something isn't right there. Games played total should be 256 not 226 but I guess it's no big deal

not sure where the mistake is but heres the article
Updated strength of schedule - Fantasy Index

i added in week 17 but SOS doesnt mean much anyways heres an example

Team A played 16 vs 8-8 teams
Team B played 8 vs 12-4 teams and 8 vs 4-12

the teams they play add up to same record but the schedules are not equal:suds:

I have to admit that I'm a bit shocked at all the votes for Rodgers. Leads me to believe that some folks are voting on reputation alone because every other guy on the list is more deserving of the award this year than he is.

I had contemplated no putting him in the poll, but instead decided to use his name like fly paper :dhd:

10-6 record, sucked for half the year and gets votes for MVP :L
It's not that many votes. Great Dane is responsible for 3/4 of them and Derski the rest.

And he managed it very fucking well, taking basically the same team from 4-12 to 13-3.

Hard to make light of that fact.
Really not the same team when you add Zeke and the Oline with another year of expirence. Not to mention a back up QB for 3/4 of the season last year.
Impressive season by the Boyz but let's not go overboard on the hyperbole. Not even close to the same team.

Well, in reality they started the season 4-2

During a 4 game losing streak, the Packers defense was surrendering an average of 40 points per game

In a lot of the Packers losses this season, Rodgers was typical Rodgers, while his defense was getting mauled, Skins and Titans losses come to mind

And since announcing "we will run the table", he has 18 total TD's and 0 picks, while winning 6 straight

pretty impressive

But I think Ryan is more deserving this season
Made more impressive by his "leg" injury:dhd:

Ryan was just as good as Rodgers in the last 6 and vastly superior the first 10. Rodgers is a candidate mostly because he's Rodgers. Same story with Brady. Both those guys were great this year. They just weren't as great as Ryan. It is what it is

Brady's numbers, extrapolated over a 16 game schedule were every bit as good as Ryan's.

However, as I said earlier I won't dwell on the hypothetical so I voted for Ryan.

For sure he's been amazing but that's the point. If he had played the 4 games his numbers would be very similar to Ryan's. That tells you how good Ryan has been over 16. If the argument is " hey if he'd played all 16 the numbers are about the same" then you have to take into account the 4 missed games ( not chalking about you specifically, I know you voted Ryan)

BS.

It is very easy to make that comparison.

You being a predominately Pats fan wouldn't have seen the abortion otherwise known as the Cowboy's 2015 season.

I saw every one of them, and believe me, it's more than a maturing O -line and Elliot over McFadden.

Prescott make not yet be Tom Brady, but he can run, he does NOT make mistakes, he has the locker-room, and he simply does not toss up that gut wrenching INT.

Whether that is because of the play called for him or whatever the fuck, the kid has played so far beyond expectations, the only parallel I can think of is The Wee One taking over from the huge FA signing of Matt Flynn, he of the HUGE MNF stats he sort of had from one game.............. Did I ever say statistics were for losers??

And I do not mean to belittle Tony Romo.

Majority of Matt Ryan's games were stat padding vs garbage defenses in Domes while Majority of Rodgers games were vs good defenses in the outdoors and many teams they faced down the stretch were fighting for the playoffs (Vikes, Philly, Texans, and Lions). ATL played vs teams that were fighting for a higher draft choice down the stretch. Ryan should get the O player of the year and Rodgers should get the MVP but it will be the other way around.

I pay so little attention to shit like this that I'm not sure if there is a difference between the 2.

Because there should be a distinction.

Ryan has been lights out outstanding,

But Carr and Prescott have been lights out valuable. As well as outstanding. And Rodgers and Stafford, etc....
