I agree Texas will go after them and with their success they will more likely go there. That is what bugs me about fans who say we have to overpay for a free agent. No we don't. We have to pay the cost to get them to come to a franchise known as a non-contender on a yearly bases and a franchise who doesn't go the extra mile to win. That comes at a cost. An extra cost, but not an overpay.

I use the word overpay but I like your term better of extra cost. I don't mean overpay by 10 to 15 mil but have to go over the coast amount of 2 to maybe upwards of 5 mil depending on the player to lure him away from a contender.

The AL East which featured 3 teams in the playoffs with 2 of them having the best records in the AL went 0-fer in the post-season. I don't think that's easy to do!

So unless something incredibly happens with the Twins, it seems likely the Rangers and Astros will play in the ALCS. If it's the Astros, well, it's them and they've been good for a while. If it's the Rangers, then they've pretty much proven that spending can and will win. They went out and got Kyle's little brother.

This brings us to the M's.. this pretty much means they have zero excuse not to spend and be a legit contender amongst the Rangers and Astros. I'm sick and tired of the management spin cycles.
