This is something I don’t get. This is within the rules? I won’t pretend to know how everything works but wasn’t the Rangers owner forced to sell the team when he had payroll issues?Evan Drellich

Sources: The San Diego Padres took out a loan for about $50 million in September to address short-term cash flow issues and meet their obligations, including player payroll. With

Sounds familiar but I don't remember the details. This shocked. A team that went nuts in spending is now borrowing money to pay them? Crazy. But does that mean deals could be had? I am sure Jerry is already calling asking if they will trade their least talented, cheapest players...This is something I don’t get. This is within the rules? There was a Red Sox documentary that was talking about they almost traded for ARod because their owner Hicks had some kind of financial issues so was (the way I took it) was forced to sell the team because he couldn’t fulfill ARod’s contract. ARod would’ve have to take a pay cut to go to the Red Sox but the MLBPA didn’t want him to take a pay cut along with the Rangers didn’t have an actual owner to negotiate didn’t terms. Can’t recall the name of the documentary though so sorry on that.Sounds familiar but I don't remember the details. This shocked. A team that went nuts in spending is now borrowing money to pay them?
