Birds of Prey is bombing at a projected $33.5 million for the weekend. For how bad this is:

* this is by far the worst of any DCEU film: lowest was previously Shazam! with $53.5 million
* this is by far worse than any MCU film: lowest was The Incredible Hulk with $55.4 million
* this is an opening in the range of the X-Men: Dark Phoenix ($32.8 million) bomb, though to be fair, Dark Phoenix was worse because it had a much higher production budget ($200 million compared to $84.5 million)

Before this turns into "female superheroes fail at the box office": naw, Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman did great. It's just Birds of Prey that is crashing. Compare the opening weekend numbers:

* Captain Marvel: $153.4 million
* Wonder Woman: $103.3 million
* Birds of Prey: $33.5 million
