I am not familiar with DC stuff too much, is Idris Elba picking up for Will Smith or is this a different character altogether?

Also, what happened to the fire guy? Just leaving him out?

Idris Elba is playing Bloodsport, an entirely different character from Will Smith's Deadshot.

El Diablo died at the end of the first Suicide Squad movie.

No Leto in this one so it will be tough to watch. Liked the first one somewhat although it could have been a lot better IMO. Birds of Prey sucked so Robbie is not going to carry the movie herself.

I wont be in a rush to see this one.

I didn't notice that he died at the end. Of course, at that point in time, I thought I had just watched the worst DC movie.... Birds of Prey showed me I was wrong about that.... but Suicide Squad is still the 2nd worst lol.

I don't even understand that first sentence. For one, IIRC, Leto isn't even in much of the first movie and two, his joker sucks imo.

This actually looks like it could be entertaining. Though I admit, the only reason I will for sure be watching is because I have HBO and will catch it on there. I would not pay to see it in theaters or redbox.

Different character.

Pretty sure he was originally going to be the same character. Then they switched it to leave the door open to Will returning in future ones.Will's character was Deadshot. Idris is playing Bloodsport.

I look forward to this movie I am a huge fan of James Gunn from what he did with Guardians of the Galaxy which was a funny wacky movie. I think Suicide squad from what I have seen in the animation show is a bunch of wacky misfits just like GotG and the first film went wrong when they tried to make it somewhat dark/serious but also humorous. I would expect this film to be raunchy and funny.

The role has not necessarily been recast. Will Smith may come back for a future movie, as it seems the issue with this movie is just a scheduling conflict.

So the answer is no one is playing Deadshot in this movie. Deadshot is just not going to appear in this particular Suicide Squad movie.

Damn, I was looking forward to him being the super bad ass murderous hit man and yet be the moral compass of the movie again.

Watched it last night. It was decent, but nothing special.
Pros: I thought Idris Elba was great. Did a great job and his was the best character.
Daniela Melchior is so ridiculously beautiful she even looked good all dirtied up as Ratchatcher.

Con: it went on a little longer than was necessary IMO.

I truly don’t know, but what the point of DCEU making a big deal about Leto playing Joker when his character has been irrelevant except for a tiny cameo in SS and then a cameo in the dumb Snyder’s Justice League. Joker is a better character than anything Marvel has and dude is irrelevant in the DCEU movies.

Everything DC has done with this franchise has been a dumpster fire. Really sad, because I would LOVE to see a MCU-like franchise in the DC universe.

so i watched this movie tonight... it wasn't bad... really it was pretty entertaining... But, the character choices made no sense to me, and the plot was much smaller than the first one...
