What fucking game were you watching? Shut up and stop talking about something you're obviously clueless about. I'm really stick of stupid people dumbing down this board.

Agreed, Boldin throwing a punch (or was it swiftly twisting a player's facemask) is not unnecessary roughness.

either way who cares. We can say the 49ers would of never settle for a FG at the end. They would of went for a TD at the end. Either way 49ers showed they were the better team.

boldin was pushed so that guy should of got flagged to. we can go back and forth if we want but the truth is it didnt affect the game because is was early. 49ers would went for a TD at the end instead of a fg.

It doesn't matter if the other guy was flagged, 53 Packer Unnecessary Roughness flags + 1 49er Unnecessary Roughness flag = OFFSET.

SY8goat, after reading those rules I think Matthews also got away with another one later. He sacked Kap and immediately did his dance right in Kaps face. No call made...Matthews got really lucky he wasn't penalized there or ejected.

If Staley should have been flagged, then Mathewes should have been flagged twice, and probably ejected. Either way the refs for that game were horrible and rightfully downgraded. Luckily their awfulness did not prevent the better team from winning.

Bad ref calls and bad play by Matthews....never did like that punk. I hope he gets fined at the least.

hesitated to post this but ah hell....................to me, Staley didn't have to go "in there" to start with? if they continued to rough up Kaep, then of course you help your teammate....ANY teammate. but it seemed like Kaep was walking away just fine, and we'd retain the 15 yarder.

whether Staley was right or wrong, in that heated moment refs will tend to flag him. whereas if he doesn't even go in there, no possibility of a flag.

Staley was protectiing his QB from a douche-bag loser who tried to cause damage. I'd commend him. He was doing his job.

I'd like to see a rule change based on this. No way a hit like that should be considered a dead ball penalty. Does the same logic apply when the QB slides? That's just silly. You're penalizing a guy for continuing to play after the whistle. It should count as a live penalty.

I was going to post the same thing. If I ruled the NFL the Niner's would have been awarded a 1st down and the yards for Matthew's late hit then penalized the yards if there was a dead ball penalty to be assessed for the scrum afterwards. Matthew's penalty should have been a separate deal, then maybe offsetting dead ball penalties for the scrum.

yeah, I know why he ran in there. but again, if Kaep got up and started pushing back, no doubt every 49er goes in too. but Kaep got up was walking away, it would've been just the 15 yard penalty.

or just run in there and make space between Kaep and any Packer, not go in and chest bump Mathews, grab Mathews, or what have you? was the ref throwing a flag really that surprising? forget that the NFL got to review film in slow-mo, 20 times, in the heat of the moment are we surprised the ref threw the flag?

Yea the dead ball penalty was ruled incorrectly. That is not a replay of downs. The penalty on Staley was also incorrect (does replay even bother?) .I guess I'm a bit irritated at Clay launching himself at Kap..a bad move.

That is the fastest way to lose the respect of your teammates. You are the blind side tackle... you defend your QB. I think it was justified and I am happy he went in there.

Well, if the question is "am I or would I be surprised to see the flag?" (as a fan or as Staley) the answer would be no. If the question is "should it have been a flag?," then it would be a different answer for me. So, maybe from a win/loss perspective in a nail-biter game, knowing that a flag, right or wrongly, could be thrown, maybe it would have been better not to have gone in, but there's no way that I would question him doing so from a teammate standpoint. So, that to me is the bigger picture - though no one challenged Staley's character as a teammate. He'll go to bat for whomever is his QB, you saw that last year and this year.

I don't think Kap really cared but his protection sure did and as I was watching the game expected the same reponse...you didn't?
