Heard this on radio today.....

I heard today Steelers were gonna be there, opposing team unannounced. My first thought was it's gonna be us. I wouldn't be shocked if this dude was right. This would be consecutive seasons playing international as a road team.

Packers resigned a couple of their own...

  • McDuffie at LB - 2 year $8M... with incentives could be $9.5M
  • McManus at K - 3 year $15.3M, $5M signing bonus
Like having McManus back after all the prior issues at kicker.

McDuffie good depth at LB.

Jets release Devante Adams...

Listening to Wilde and Tausch they are on-board with Packers picking him up at the right price.
Meh, not a fan of bringing him back. Even with Rodgers pulling the trigger, Adams was not much of a factor for the Jets. I would rather see the Packers put more of an effort in developing the receivers they have and getting Adams would only take snaps away from them.

Packers 2 years in a row have Day1 activity...

Aaron Banks 49ers guard for 4 year $77M.
  • Was considered top guard in FA
  • Josh Myers is now gone
  • Elton Jenkins most likely moves to center
  • Bolsters up the OL.
Packers will sign San Francisco 49ers free-agent guard Aaron Banks, source confirms

Nate Hobbs Raiders cornerback 4 year $48M... Packers address CB... I do not know much about him at all.

Saw that TJ Slaton signed with Bengals.

Thanks for that update, I hadn't seen any of this yet. I figured Myers would have to go.

Draft week in Green Bay... wish I still lived in Green Bay, would be fun just to walk around the area to get a feel for the atmosphere.

I did AI search on who are the most mocked picks for Packers in the 1st round and here is list:

  • Mike Green, EDGE – Marshall Green led all of college football with 17 sacks in 2024. His explosive pass-rushing ability makes him a potential impact player for the Packers' defense.
  • Jahdae Barron, CB – Texas Barron is a four-year player who recorded eight interceptions and 23 passes defended during his college career. His ball skills and experience could strengthen Green Bay's secondary.
  • Benjamin Morrison, CB – Notre Dame Despite a mid-season hip injury in 2024, Morrison had an impressive track record with six interceptions and ten pass breakups in 2023. He could provide immediate help to the Packers' cornerback group.
  • Emeka Egbuka, WR – Ohio State Egbuka caught 81 passes for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024. His potential as a No. 1 wide receiver could address Green Bay's need for a playmaker at the position.
  • James Pearce Jr., EDGE – Tennessee Pearce recorded 28 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks over the last two seasons. His pass-rushing prowess could complement Rashan Gary on the Packers' defensive line.
  • Tyleik Williams, DT – Ohio State Williams is known for his run-stopping ability, earning a PFF run-defense grade of 84.5 in 2024. His presence could bolster Green Bay's defensive front.
  • Tacario Davis, CB – Arizona Davis stands out with his 6-foot-4 frame and ball skills. His size and athleticism could add depth to the Packers' cornerback position.
  • Shemar Stewart, DL – Texas A&M Stewart is a versatile defensive lineman with explosive traits. His ability to disrupt plays could enhance Green Bay's defensive line rotation.
  • Mykel Williams, EDGE – Georgia Williams has been a consistent performer for Georgia, contributing to their defensive success. His skills could provide additional pass-rushing options for the Packers.
  • Luther Burden III, WR – Missouri Burden's playmaking ability and versatility could make him a valuable addition to Green Bay's receiving corps.

On Gold Package games, 41 traffic sometimes backs up all the way to Oshkosh. It'll be interesting to see how transportation infrastructure holds up for this.

Would assume it will be mix between Green and Gold game packages traffic... I would assume more than 60-70% of those attending are staying in Fox Valley (GB to Oshkosh)/Manitowoc/Sheboygan/Fond du Lac/Wausau areas.

I lived on east side when lived there for couple of years... but lived up on incline on east side and could see field in distance and hear game day crowd after big play.

I imagine there will be a lot of commuting into Green Bay from both visitors and Wisconsin residents for the event.

...That reminds me, I need to fill up my gas tank today - before gas stations across the area jack prices up.

Draft Day 1 comments:
  • Draft a success as event... 205k attended from NFL count... people had to be turned away from entering due to capacity.
  • Very much enjoyed
    • Packers and Goodell riding bikes out to open ceremony
    • Clay Matthews unscripted comments to help kick off the draft
    • Mark Murphy's comments in announcing the pick and building it up
  • Matthew Golden pick - fact he was there to enjoy it and "script" that Packers ended drought of 1st WR picked since 2002
  • I do like the pick.. would have preferred moving down late 1st or early 2nd and getting more picks in 2nd-3rd, but I think it was a good pick and made for very electric environment
My nephew was at the event sending me pictures... well done NFL and Green Bay for the first day.

Draft Day 2 comments:
  • Appeared to be pretty good crowd again for Green Bay... but thinned out some after Packers pick Round 2
  • Surprised Packers picked OL 2nd round... and have feelings this is like a Dillon/Deguara pick that Packers picked player rated much lower than consensus and so I question the pick
  • Another WR in 3rd round... again surprising to me, WR room definitely on notice... Doubs definitely now gone after this year
  • Packers must be happy with the defense not addressing CB or pass rush on Day 1-2
  • My nephew texted me and stated some fans asking if this means Jaire is coming back... I would still find that hard to believe after all the comments from Packers front office

Draft is over in Green Bay:, great job putting on event... 600k people over 3 days for smallest city with professional team.
  • First time drafting Gutey did not move up/down in draft... stayed with all his original picks.
  • Top 30 visits that Packers drafted: Golden, Belton, S. Williams, (first 3 draft picks) J. Williams (7th round) that know of...
  • LaFleur talked with Jordan Love after WR picks
  • Rumors:
    • Packers 1st round pick selection... had some good offers to move out of 23rd pick and that if draft not in Green Bay probably trade out of the pick
    • No CB drafted early (only 1 in 7th round)... maybe Jaire staying in GB (I still would be very surprised based on Packers brass comments prior)

Packers picks:
1745762321869.png

  • Listening to Gutey, Jon-Eric Sullivan, Hendrickson, LaFleur....
    • Golden - can play inside or outside, very fast.. "wired how we want our guys", strong and some of the best hands, authentic and genuine, great teammate
    • Belton - huge, powerful, athletic, mauler... versatile and can play OT/G... professional, mature, humble, football important, great Senior Bowl
    • S. Williams - staff favorite, versatile (moveable chess piece), can be creative with him... big, strong, explosive, return ability, ton of upside.. really impressed on Top 30 visit.. very intelligent
    • All the offensive picks (early) and Banks FA acquisition
      • Want to keep Love upright and give him weapons... comments regarding Eagles a couple of times and getting "big" on OL
      • How the board fell Day 1, 2
      • Gutey "feels good" about guys they have to rush the passer
      • WR room will have a lot of competition
    • Sorrell - physical, passionate, 28 reps on bench and "football" strong and can take on double team, can play all 3 downs, leader
    • Oliver - twitchy... old school style pass rusher, versatile and can rush from edge, leader

UDFA know of for now
S Johnathan Baldwin, UNLV
RB Amar Johnson, South Dakota State
LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Kentucky
DT Nazir Stackhouse, Georgia
G Tyler Cooper, Minnesota
T Brant Banks, Rice
G J.J. Lippe, Northern Illinois

Did not watch ESPN coverage of draft (not available in English)... watched the NFL Network that I get... but saw this and not surprising regarding comments he had for Green Bay fans.

Hopefully Green Bay gets to host a NFL draft again in 10-20 years after this experience and considering the 600k that went to the event.

I wanted to go to the draft so badly but my son is going to Cooperstown in June for a baseball tournament with his allstar team so all of my expendable money is going there.
