SI: A-Hern not believed to be murder suspect

In its latest update to the Aaron Hernandez story, Sports Illustrated reiterates he is "not believed to be a murder suspect."

Hernandez's role in the alleged crime remains unclear after Massachusetts State Police searched his home for over two and a half hours Tuesday. Per reporter Greg A. Bedard, police are looking for a second vehicle under Hernandez's name in addition to the rental car considered a "key piece of evidence." We're nowhere near the end of this.

i read the same thing... and then this AM there is a source saying he is a suspect and is also a suspect in shooting a friend in the arm and blowing out his eye in Miami.

I guess he isn't as clean as I once thought...

Man that sucks... fellow Gator and a great TE. Never had any trouble before that I know of...

Hopefully he wasn't involved... but not looking good if he wasn't cooperating.

From the SI article:

The latest incident continues a pattern of Hernandez being associated with guns that began in college. SI.com uncovered two new incidents that Hernandez was associated with involving guns and police. Those incidents are in addition to his inclusion in a civil lawsuit by a man who claims Hernandez shot him and that led to the loss of his eye.

His sister-in-law is missing too ... who was married to the guy murdered... so this could get ugly quick. His wife can't be all too pleased about her sister being missing... and police are worried for her safety.

Was missing. I'm fairly certain they found her.

But he was the youngest. Anthony Davis was the 2nd youngest.

Randumb fact just 'cause it's the offseason:

I think Sharrif Floyd is currently the youngest player in the NFL, but I only checked defensive players & only looked at the first 3 rounds of rookies. But I haven't seen anyone younger.

Wow. PFBT reporting that Hernandez is likely to be arrested.

Report: Aaron Hernandez likely to be arrested | ProFootballTalk

This next article says it could have something to do with destroying a home surveillance system. Obstruction of justice charges? Accomplice? Murder suspect? This one says reports are conflicting on whether he's likely to be arrested or not:

Report: Hernandez destroyed home surveillance system; reports conflict on whether he?ll be arrested - It's All Over, Fat Man!

This doesn't sound good for him. At the very least it sounds like he's an accomplice to murder. That Jake Ballard pick up is looking better and better every day.

Greg Bedard:

Have heard from two Patriots teammates who said, in their opinion, Hernandez got more brazen after contract extension.

Offhand I think he just threw away $20-$30 million (even if he comes out looking relatively innocent in this particular shooting).

Report: No warrants yet in Hernandez case

A source tells the Boston Globe there are no "arrest warrants issued currently in Odin Lloyd murder investigation."

Per reporter Wesley Lowery, that doesn't mean they won't soon be issued, but for now, Aaron Hernandez has yet to be charged with a crime. Earlier Friday, a "law enforcement source" told CBS Boston a warrant for obstruction of justice had been issued for the Patriots' tight end. Judging by the range of speculation, the local media doesn't have a terribly good grip on what law enforcement is actually planning to do in the case.

Aaron Hernandez - TE - Patriots

A law enforcement official told the Boston Globe that 27-year-old murder victim Odin Lloyd was shot "multiple times" before his death in a Massachusetts industrial park.

"He was killed where they found the body," said the official. "He was shot multiple times." Multiple shots likely rule out a Jayson Williams-style accidental shooting, where Williams attempted to cover up the incident post-event. The same law official told the Globe that Aaron Hernandez continues to be uncooperative with police. He's expected to be arrested on obstruction-of-justice charges Friday, which could later be upgraded pending more evidence.

Obstruction is a 10 year felony here in MA fyi.

The charge comes from his first questioning when he said he did not know the victim and never met him before.

There may not be enough proof for a conviction of anything beyond obstruction - in this case. But shooting his drug-dealer friend in the arm and knocking out his eye might be enough to keep him out of the NFL for a long time on its own. For me it's not a football question any more. Just a question of how much jail time he does.

In any event he's gonna lose that house, probably owe more money than he has coming, and have no way to make money except get a ghost writer and come out with a book. Look for "Tight End/Loose Ends: My Side of the Story" by Aaron Hernandez (with Ian Rapoport) on bookshelves next May.
