It was known he was a punk. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Should BB/Kraft predicted the future? Followed him around 24/7? I don't get the point of this thread.

And let’s not focus entirely on Hernandez. The Peter King story says:
“At the same time owner Robert Kraft was testifying for the prosecution against his former employee, the Patriots were reportedly extending a contract offer to then-free-agent linebacker Rolando McClain, whose background was more troubling than Hernandez’s was at the time the team drafted him out of Florida or when it gave him a contraction extension….McClain was arrested in 2011 for misdemeanor assault, discharging a firearm and reckless endangerment. Two years later he was arrested for providing false information to the police.”
So they took a gamble, eh, money over morality, a revelation that doesn't make the Patriots look very good. Between the conviction and the pending trial, this guy is an accused mass murderer. Although NFL has its share of bad guys over the years, such is nowhere near the norm among NFL team players, past or present so stop with the Carruth and Lewis talk. Pacman? Really? They knew and the Patriots signed this piece of crap anyway. Pathetic and reprehensible. You don't reward "borderline" behavior or someone with such a violent past who was clearly still using drugs with $40m.

It makes them a typical NFL team. The attempts to foist some additional morality on them is hypocritical and transparent.
Well at least you finally admit it.It's the biggest story in sports. But yeah, I'm fabricating the whole thing for profit.
Well at least you finally admit it.
Name another team who rewarded a violent, drug addicted gang member with $40,000,000.
Just one.
You won't because you can't.
Consensus first round talent that every team in the league passed on.
Except the New England Patriots.
There have been any number of teams who paid players who have had trouble with drugs, the law etc,
Lawrence Taylor
Michael Irvin
Gregg Hardy
Darren Sharper
To name a few.
Here's some from last year. You can shift out the pot offenses on your own

Saying talented athletes are protected, shielded and coddled most of their lives is right on the mark.
Saying this is somehow unique to the Patriots is retaaarhded
I'd compare Hernandez to Speedy. With his antisocial attitude and threatening statements, he must have offed at least a couple of cops by now.Pats player is a serial killer.
Pats fan compares him to Michael Irvin.
Beyond belief.
