Locks (bubbles)

SP (5/5): Bum, Sammy, Dutch, DRod, PomPom
Bully (5/8): Smith, Watson, Moronta, Dyson, Vincent (MM, Bergen, Gott, Stratton, Blach, Suarez)
C (1/2): Posey (Garcia, Rivera, Vogt)
Inf (5/6): Belt, Panik, Craw, Longo, Solarte (Hanson, Sandoval, Joe)
OF (3/4): Dugger, Mac, Parra (Joe, Joyce, Gerber, Garcia)

I know that technically, Gerber has already been cut, but I think there is still a slight chance he makes the team.
By the way, Garcia (the outfielder) has already been sent down but Henry Ramos (Heliot's older brother) is still in big league camp.

Also just read the post about Vogt.

Either way, the picture is becoming more clear...

From the team's website:
"The decision to keep Vincent came as a mild surprise. The 32-year-old has a career 3.17 ERA over seven seasons in the Majors, but the club also has Rule 5 Draft pick Travis Bergen and Trevor Gott, who is out of options, battling for bullpen spots. Bergen and Gott have not allowed a run over a combined 19 1/3 innings this spring.

“You look at his body of work in the big leagues, he’s got experience,” Bochy said of Vincent. “He’s had a lot of success, and you like the way he really commands the strike zone. He’s a pro. He’s thrown the ball well coming into camp. That was a pretty easy one for us.”"

Reading into these paragraphs, I think Maria does not expect Melancon to be jettisoned. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but I think he's not quite as far in the bubble as we think. I guess I wouldn't be surprised either way but will be disappointed if the Giants lose either of Bergen or Gott, based on their spring numbers.

I think with the current depth of the team, you really need to trade a pitcher and roll with a 12-man staff.

Hanson needs to make the club just as a backup option for Crawford, IMO. And they still need another RHH outfielder, preferably a CFer. Could kill two birds with one stone and get one player who does both, but I can't name many of those guys.

Vincent, Parra, Vogt and Solarte need spots. Hanson, Okert, Sandoval and MM are the likely casualties in this scenario.

I agree. I would prefer to TRY to salvage MM if at all possible. This is a lost year, so this is the t8me to take risks like that.

I don't know I'd consider Mac a lock. You'd think so because he's right-handed, but his spring has been quite mediocre.

I think this outfield situation is quite fluid, making it extremely hard to predict.

I don’t think there is any chance in hell Mac does not make the team. As far as how much of a leash he gets, I would assume he gets 1-2 months, barring injury or absolute 100% faceplant or someone in the system DEMANDING a SF roster spot.

Not “liking” the fact he is hurt, but rather the potential suitor for Panik (though I seriously doubt Panik is traded).

Maybe, but then what happens when Scooter returns? I think maybe Hanson for them, and they have a surplus of outfielders.... maybe Phillip Ervin? Plays all 3 OF positions, is athletic and right-handed.

His value alone is probably higher than Hanson's, so maybe they have to throw in a pitcher.

FZ- "Boch, I'm sorry, but we just have to get younger."

Noggin: "No way in HELL are we getting younger. This is my last rodeo with this team. Vets are the only way to go. Keep the vets! They are pros. They know what to do. Vincent throws strikes. We keep him! Capiche?"
