We all assume that Tomlinson has one of the util spots locked up. However, I am starting to wonder if neither he nor EA will make the team. I wonder if Lee and/or Green don't have solid shots at a spot. Tomlinson, I think, is still viewed very highly by the org, but he has options, and the Giants like to use those...

With the 40 man roster full, that would mean at least 2 dfa's (4 if they also go with a nri for the 12th man in the bullpen and Blanks in the outfield).

EA would be one. I doubt they go NRI for the bully.

That only leaves one or two spots, and I think they have enough dead weight in the bully to accommodate whatever they need to do.

barring injury, I can't see KT not making the squad. I wouldn't be shocked if EA is cut, but I would be surprised.

SP: Bum/JC/Shark2/Peaved/Horse
RP: KCya/Romo/JLo/Strick/Greek/Sich/Moses
C: MVP/Sac
IF: BB9/JP/Stamos/Buffy/KT/EA
OF: Herk/DSpan/Oxy/Shark/JPark

That's the roster I anticipate (barring injuries) on Opening Day. I don't think NRIs have the same opportunity this year as they have had in years' past. However, I do think it is possible that a 8th guy will be carried in the bullpen and Parker goes down.

That would shock me too; they are anticipating getting 200 IP from at least 3 if not 4 SP this year. Coming out of ST, I doubt they'd go with 8 RP.

AND Heston in the 'pen as long relief or spot-starter. 7 RPs, I think.

Speaking of Moses, I didn't realize he threw 177 innings last year.
He really did have an AWESOME year. He just hit the wall, so we forget how dominating he was in the first half+ of the season.

I didn't. That is why I thought it was dumb to talk about replacing him.
He did hit the wall HARD, though. And he is old enough that I am not sure he can be relied upon to push the wall that far back. I think he can be an elite #6, though. I am not sure he has more than 150 quality innings in his arm.

Sounds like Tomlinson is going to work a lot at 3B this Spring. It will go a long way in securing him a spot. Also sounds like the outfield has been completely scrapped for him.

Cain starts ST by going on the shelf for 7-10 days. He had a cyst removed.

This isn't Earth-shattering, but I would prefer good news to bad news...

I guess this qualifies as a Spring Training cut.
I didn't want to create a thread just for this, and this seamed like the closest themed thread for the topic...

I know, I was just trying to make a bad pun happen.

I have a feeling this will turn into the ST thread anyway.
