I have not been to the new Chubs Stadium. I have been to HoHoKam and it is dumpy. We go to Maryvale every year (one of our guys is from Milwaukee) but THIS year we are both happy. Parking on that dirt/grass area can be a drag, but the good news is that the traffic flow getting out is generally pretty good.

A tzill approved game today! Nicely done.

Thanks for the explanation. Not his fault that the Giants didn't have someone ready to replace Posey when he went down. I thought Stewart was better than Whiteside offensively but that's not saying much. The closest they had to help in the minor leagues, until Sanchez was ready in September, was Johnny Monell at double A and he wasn't hitting that well. Yet another reason that Posey going down that year was a huge loss for the team.

HEY! -- It's ALWAYS Whiteside's fault!

It was indeed. We had a no-no going into the fifth. Some quick thoughts before I head over to Talking Stick for Rockies/Indians:

1. Panik looks 100% and the kid can HIT.
2. KT has no problem handling SS
3. Gillaspie has a solid approach and I think he's the leader for the 2nd IF reserve spot
4. Oxy was moving well and looks completely healthy
5. Gorkys is FAST....but I think has zero chance to make the team barring injury
6. JPark looks solid and like Gillaspie has the inside track for the last spot in the OF.
7. Gregorio was the most impressive pitcher of the bunch, and everyone looked pretty good.
8. Strick throws HARD; I still have yet to see Black, but Strick looked ready.

No Giants today/tomorrow; I hear Pence isn't going to start today. Hopefully I see him on Sunday in Scottsdale.

I phuking LOVE Spring Training.

p.s. 9. The Sac is THE SAC. NEVER DOUBT THE SAC.

Salt River Fields at Talking Stick is the nicest stadium in the Valley of the Sun.

Good report. I wish there were a way to keep Gorkys, but I don't see any way. And he is too good to send down to AAA. Good problem to have.

Have you tried the Arizona Fall League, tzill?

Any chance we move Oxy before opening day? With Blanks, Mac, JP and Gorkys, moving Oxy would solve a LOT of "problems"...

So happy to see :gaah: back, he's driving the ball too. Arroyo is looking pretty good too.

I'm still worried about Gillaspie's glove, but his lefty bat looks nice. Green has had a solid spring too, but his glove is pretty much useless as well.

The F.O. seems to love Gorky's, he'll probably be around until the end of spring. Another winter-leaguer the Giants found, like Blanoc, and Petit.

Glad your having fun, out of the rain!

Hunter Pence hit a homerun today, so that is GREAT news. Granted, from the reports I saw, he was more worried about running around than he was about swinging the bat. Still, good to see the man back.

Also nice to see a pretty normal lineup, with Pence, Posey, Duffy, Craw and Span all playing. Craw played the field which he hasn't much yet.

Also, Arroyo with another hit. I'm so excited for this kid.

He is only 20 and already beginning to force his way into roster talks. He obviously will not make the team out of ST, and probably will not even get a cuppo this year. But I think it is at least a possibility that he is battling for a starting spot out of ST 2017.

I have not; I attend ST with the same dozen guys every year; I can't get anyone interested in coming to AZ in Oct/Nov. I agree with you regarding Talking Stick -- I've been to every stadium here and it's the best vibe. I like Scottsdale Stadium, but it doesn't have the amenities.

BTW, nothing especially noteworthy from the Indians/Rockies game today. The Rox had a combined perfect game goings through 6.1 innings. Rajai Davis looked good.

Unless Gorkys signed a minor league deal with an opt out, he can easily be stored at Sacramento.

I'm sure we'll hear about this as the weeks go by. I think they mentioned Grant Green has an opt-out clause. Not sure who else.

I assume that the team hasn't made any cuts yet as I haven't ready of any yet anywhere. Anyone seen anything?

With Mac hitting his 3rd dinger of the spring today, is he in a battle with Parker for the 5th OF spot? Btw, Parker also hit a dinger today.

Its a beautiful battle for sure. I would guess both will be with the big league club to the end of spring and the decision is made close to the last day.

I think they'd like to get Mac Williamson full-time ABs in Sacramento. Granted, that's what they said about Matt Duffy last year and look what he did.

Parker could be best suited as a PH extraordinaire, maybe start against a fringe righty.

More infield ABs to be had. And Arias had already lost enough foothold with the org for then to feel they needed the 3B depth.

This is why I think Gonnor has the inside track on a roster spot.

First big injury news out of camp. Ian Gardeck has to undergo Tommy John surgery. That's a big blow.
