:omg:

I totally didn't believe you. So, I looked it up

I found like 4 sites that had him ranked higher.

In fairness, 2 are sites I never heard of and the one that had him ranked ABOVE Jordan got dismissed on GP ;).

No surprises, Espn has him higher.

But, I really like the SI article on the top players in the last 20 years

Duncan is, and should be, #1.

SI's 20 best NBA players of the last 20 years

All-Time #NBArank: The greatest players ever

If Greg Oden didn't make this list I'm gonna be pissed!

I have James >Kobe if anyone cares.

I think he's a better all around player than Kobe because of his willingness to create.

I have said it before, he's way more comparable to Magic than Jordan.

But, Bron doesn't have that Kobe/Jordan killer instinct.

I think that's why people devalue him as a competitor.

So one of the 7 Finals appearances he didn't show up. Wow! :L :L

And I brought that up in an earlier post but thanks for another shitty post.
Have you dipped into @trojanfan12 s 420 gift bag? What are you even talking about he didn't show up? If memory serves me correctly that first season is when the Mavs punched them in the face. They didn't see it coming because they were too busy laughing & making jokes about Dirk.

I hope a meaningful post from you comes sooner rather than later.

Kobe and LeBron were both the best and go-to guys on 2 Finals Champions. Each have 2 Finals MVP's.

Kobe gets credits for the other 3 championships without a doubt- but less as he was the 2nd banana.

LeBron has 4 league MVP's.......Jordan 5....Kareem 6.....Magic and Bird each with 3....Nash with 2....Wilt with 4.....Russell with 5........Kobe has 1...

Look at the names on that list of guys who have won 3 or more MVP's and TRY and tell me an MVP is not a HUGE consideration.

plus- if right now you could have either one---they were both incoming rooks--- if they were both in the draft and you had the #1 pick and had to choose- no one in their right mind takes Kobe. LeBron- very simply- has done more with less.

I'd like to nominate another candidate...

Duncan’s track record compares favorably with the greatest big men of all time: The Spurs legend has made more All-Star Game appearances than Bill Russell, he’s has won more titles than Shaquille O’Neal and Wilt Chamberlain, and he’s has taken home more Finals MVP awards than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Since taking The Big Fundamental at No. 1 overall in 1997, the Spurs have stood as the NBA’s model franchise as they close in on their 19th consecutive playoff appearance and 19thstraight season with a .610 or better winning percentage. Duncan, 39 and still ticking, has beaten them all in the playoffs over the last 20 years, downing Kobe Bryant’s Lakers, LeBron James’ Cavaliers and Heat, Kevin Durant’s Thunder, Steve Nash’s Suns and Dirk Nowitzki’s Mavericks, among countless others.

The list of Duncan’s basketball virtues is endless: he’s an intelligent, selfless, consistent and no-nonsense leader who could protect the rim, score in volume, dominate the boards and make the right pass. With little fanfare and zero self-congratulation, Duncan stands as his generation’s most reliable force and most decorated winner.

That was just mean. Now I'm not going to root for the Heat in the playoffs anymore.

I take it back, now root hard for us.

Team-to-team lol. Lebron has been on two teams and Lebron didn't play in LA, a lot harder to recruit players to come to Cleveland than LA. Nice comparison...derp. Umm I think you forgot about last year when players got injured, ohh and when he dominated vs SA while on the Heat and the others didn't do much...c'mon you aren't fooling anyone. That is 3 Finals appearances out of the 4 times he didn't win bc of his teammates.

The funny thing is on almost everyone's top 10 list of players of all-time Lebron has passed Kobe and he isn't close to done with his career and has 3 less rings. So bring up the rings but Lebron is the better player :laugh3: :laugh3:

Since when did this become a Kobe vs lebron thread? And I know you're nuts deep all up in lebrons business but what makes you think Kobe is my all time favourite player to compare to lebron?

Want to compare my all time fav laker? Go ahead, lebron vs Kareem. Who you got?

I get that side of it, but his skill set allows him to think differently.
If you have either or, on your side, your usually is pretty good shape.

I agree with you on Duncan. The longevity is just ridiculous. He has raised his franchise to one of the best in the entirety of sports- along with the rest of the organization of course. His role cannot be overstated. The fact that he is one of the best players on a team that did as well as the Spurs did- is just ridiculous.

Right now- Duncan is probably either the 2nd or 3rd best player on the Spurs right? Pretty remarkable. His longevity has allowed him to just continue to pile up accolades, awards, finals appearances, championships, etc...

I dont see why LeBron cant mirror Duncan's longevity- in that both are extremely smart players, both take care of themselves, and both have organizations and coaching staffs that are taking care of the player. I dont see any reason why LeBron cannot play 8 or 9 more years and still be a very good player if he uses Duncan as a role model.

Looking ahead- lets say things work out, Cavs win a title or two in the next 3-5 years- its clear LeBron isnt going anywhere...itll be really interesting to see those last 2-3 years...maybe LeBron even leaves....maybe he gets a few of his guys to come play in Cleveland if Kyrie and Love are still in their primes and carrying the team. In order to pass Duncan, LeBron is gonna have to continue to pile up the accolades- because its just even crazy to think about- but Duncan is in position to only WIDEN the gap if the Spurs win the title....

Something tells me that if LeBron gets the requisite help- hes going to play on such a level that the Cavs will have a chance.
