Anyone know if we ran any quick slants at all? You know. Quick routes that are designed to beat heavy pressure? (Other than the STUPID backfield throws to Swift that kept getting blown up)

None that I can recall. Closest I can think of was the little quick route DJ ran to pick up a 1st down after Caleb changed the play at the line. Wasn't a slant he did a fake in and completely ghosted the CB.

A lot of missed blocks on the quick screens to the outside.

LOL...anything you type after these words, which I won't bother to read, is moot because you can't dismiss what the oline did last night.

That's just silly.

The entire discussion is moot because Caleb Williams is our guy for the next 3 years. But I'm definitely nervous he won't pan out now. Saying you shouldn't be at least thinking it's possible after these first 2 games is just pure bias.

We're gonna get the playcalling of a retread coach because that's what we signed. It is what it is. Same as why we're getting sh*t o-line play. You get what you pay for.

I've been nervous he won't pan out since he was drafted. Because I'm a Bears fan. That's always a possibility.

I can't blame him for what happened last night. Again. He understood the assignment early. He was getting the ball out. Being pressured 36 times in 44 dropbacks will doom anyone. That is an unheard of pressure rate.

We'll have a lot more input over these next 4 games. All reasonably beatable teams and games where we SHOULD move the ball. I'm dying for Caleb to show out in one of them. Please. I mean, outside of Payne, what does Washington even have left on the defensive line? My God if we don't put up points in that game...

And it looks like that on every fucking play, pass or run, he is godawful.

They need to be looking elsewhere. There is no way this kid improves. Two games, endless film of him just getting fucking ragdolled. Embarrassing.

You can say bad o-line play all you want...but the offense STILL has the advantage in the NFL and having 99 yards of passing over 2 NFL games is absolute 100% utter sh*t...much less when you are starting a #1 draft pick QB.

Even when Caleb has had time,he has not been accurate.....a couple thriws Ive seen,I was wondering if he threw them out of bounds on purpose, just to go back and actually see he didnt.....

Other than the STUPID backfield throws to Swift that kept getting blown up)

I was so sick of seeing that......I kinda think that Caleb has not much time to throw that Waldron has to call those plays......

But I'm definitely nervous he won't pan out now

Part of me too.....it just has not been what Ive expected out of all the hype we have heard before and after we drafted him....
Im not giving up hope cause that line is autrocious.....Do we have one viable lineman.....??

Yeah, didn't see much of it either from my recollection. OC needs to craft a game plan to keep Caleb from getting killed. I just don't get how a franchise can be offensively inept for an entire century! You'd think we'd have accidentally stumbled upon an "offensive genius" in all that time! Heck, even when we bring in supposed "offensive geniuses", they seemingly forget how offense works and we still suck...

My takeaway. Bears Offense looked 100% better, which isn't saying much about week 1, than game 1. However, the O line is obviously a huge problem. Two dropped td passes in 2 games, while obviously bad and bad from the standpoint of only 2, coupled with zero ability to run the ball, has really hampered this offense. I always had Houston as a L on the Bears schedule, but holding them to just 1 TD and less than 75 yards rushing was pretty impressive by the D. D is legit. No clue what the Bears are doing with Nate at RG, who's job it was all game long to tap the Center to snap the ball and he STILL had false start penalties? How much are the Bears paying him for all those false starts? >mutters<

Every Bear O line man had a "WTF" turnstile moment in the game last night.... Incredible. That has got to be fixed. Kmet wiffing on blocking the DE, his sole job on that play cost the Bears, not only a sac but an attempt at a TD. Even LEWIS, the ageless wonder, had a penalty on one of the few times he was on the field.

Problems on the O line is making it so difficult to gauge the rest of offense. I do believe the Bears could have really, REALLY used Keenan Allen last night. Probably the best quick pass target on their roster. Ah, well.

At what point do you hold Chris Morgan accountable? Look back at his coaching history and he's been party to some really bad o-lines. Shelton graded out as a top 1/3 run blocker last season and in the top half of pass blockers at his position. This year in two games he doesn't look like he belongs on an NFL roster.

Coaching has to own up to some of this mess.
