Don't be a jabroni.
Game 2 is here, 7pm on FDS but the SoCal channel not FDS West. Also a national game on TBS but I'd rather listen to our guys. Junior I had his baseball practice canceled so I'll be grilling up some carne asada tacos, beans and rice. Sure it's not Taco Tuesday but tacos any day of the week is acceptable.
Nothing new to report on the Kings front, expect the same line up. My only curiosity is L4 got minimal playing time in the third after the Oilers rally which ended up taxing L1-3. L4 did get burned on the Janmark goal so I don't know if that got into Jill's head or if he meant to play the other lines all third period regardless of the score. Something tells me that was the plan all along considering how minimal he played L4 in the third all season long and shortened the bench.
Kuemper the expected starter but if he's looking for a change Lewis, Thomas, Burroughs and Moverare are available. Personally I don't see anything changing. Carter George was called up to back up Rittich as the third goalie with Copley reassigned to Ontario in lieu of the Reign's playoff game tomorrow. Good experience for George being a black ace.
On the Oilers front, Kane and Klingberg (this dude is still playing?) will slot in for Skinner and Brown. Brown was a pylon and barely saw time in the third while the other five defenders played a lot. Beyond the physicality he doesn't bring much else, and Skinner, wow - waits 1078 games to play his first PO game and is immediately scratched. Skinner the confirmed starter but there have been grumblings Pickard should go in. Skinner sucks so keep him in as far as I'm concerned. So a different line up than Monday night but I'm sure McJesus amd Draisaitl will be double shifted together a lot again.
Kane returning is the bigger issue, I just knew they sandbagged him for LTIR reasons. We are all familiar with him so he will be running Kings and playing physical as always. Now they will have Kane, Frederic and Perry around for sandpaper, Kings will need to withstand that or play just as physical back. Mallot and Helenius can help but that's asking a lot of two inexperienced PO guys. Jeannot is missed and will be out again, really hoping he gets into this series because he can offset some of the douchebaggery that is Edmonton.
Game 1 was a train wreck as far as I'm concerned, it shouldn't have come down to a fluky Dunno goal to win with :40 left when you have a 4-0 lead. I expect a much better defensive game tonight and nerves settled.
That said, prediction: Kings 3-2 with goals by Kopitar, Laferriere and Spence. A commanding 2-0 lead going into Edmonton for Games 3 and 4 and seriously putting doubt in the Oiler brain. Oilers obviously looking for the split and negating home ice advantage so this is a big game.
Let's Go Kings!
