There is talk that a lot of NFL teams are waiting until after Sunday to get involved in trades. So many AFC Teams with 2 wins still believing they are playoff hopefuls so don't want to trade away players until they know for sure where they stand.

My thought is one week doesn't change much of anything. You should by now know the level of talent and the general expectations of what your team can do. 1-game shouldn't change that.

Patriots have multiple needs - even for next year.
Bad teams have bad players or bad contracts to get rid of.
It is the right thing to look around but unlike the draft, we know these players and trying to find a diamond in the rough usually nets you coal instead. There are exceptions but they are the minority.....

I would say about half the trades made last year worked out to varying degrees. There were I think 15 trades last year...

Hardman back to the Chiefs while giving up only a 6th rounder and getting back a 7th rounder worked out pretty well. He had the game winning TD to win the Super Bowl.

Leonard Williams to the Seahawks has worked out great for them. Even signed him to a long-term deal.

Sweat to the Bears for a 2nd round pick worked out great for the Bears. Ended up with a Pro Bowl year for the guy and long-term contract.

Bills getting Rasul Douglas has worked out really well for them.

There are others that you could make an argument either way, but yeah I would say a few deals a year work out pretty well and the rest end up being worthless to the production of a team compared to if they had continued the season without them.

Success and taking risk is largely about the money.
If you take a flyer on a player and he does not pan out, if you can get rid of him without a big $$ loss, no harm no foul.

Yeah I don't mind a team throwing a 5th-7th rounder out at this point for a player that probably won't help, but hey at least worth a shot. The odds of that draft pick amounting to a significant player are pretty slim. And if you are in a Super Bowl window then go hog wild. Hard to know when you will have that level of roster again. The Chiefs the last few years even throwing out day 2 picks to improve the team I definitely get it.

Personally for me with the Broncos I'm hoping they do not get involved in a trade even if they win this weekend against the Ravens. They are still in the rebuild mode so stick with the plan and just know you are ahead of schedule at this point. The only types of players I would be ok with would be ones that look like more than just 1-year rentals. So let's say they trade for Njoku from the Jets to help out at the TE position. He is only 28 so plenty of good years still in him beyond this season.

with the same leg (calf) touching inbounds before the rest of him was out. I thought the rule was two feet in bounds? Not a half inch of calf.
Clearly you never listened to John Madden who would always say 1 body part equals two feet. I saw the first replay and immediately thought catch.

I understand that rule.

But isn't there some obscure rule about the back of the end zone? Last week there was a play that was called no TD. Unfortunately I was only watching and didn't have the audio.

I think that one was where the toes where in but the heels came down after and were out. With the foot, if it's the bottom of the foot the entire foot must be in, but for the top, only a toe tap is required.
