The Cavs weakness is their depth outside the top trio. JR Smith isn't somebody you can bet on to be consistent.

But
Congrats @WiggyRuss, @gordontrue , @Shanemansj13 @lebron23james * @Wamu :peep: *.

This is what you thought the trio could be once they got healthy.

Now, the rest of the guys just have to do their part.

Good win, Cavs fans....Love was DA MAN!

Why would Cavalier fans be happy about this game?

They won a close game at home against an 8 seed. The offensive stars put up numbers, but the team defense was not good enough to beat any legitimately good teams and the offense was 1 on 1 ISO ball for long stretches.

That might get Cleveland through the East, but the way they played today was not good enough. It is title or bust for Cleveland. That did not resemble a championship team.

@logic Bad loss.

But, I can see your Teams potential.

Harris was GAWD awful and Jackson wants to be James Harden.

Both fixable issues.
They need to learn that a pro game is 48 minutes, not 36, and you have to play them all.
I'm happy they weren't embarrassed, but they gave me too much hope for the win.
Harris and Drummond can definitely play better, then they can be lass reliant on the three which is very hit or miss with them.

Did anyone else notice that in the starting lineups they showed a picture of Spencer Dinwiddie (8) for Caldwell-Pope(5)? WTF?

Pistons shot 52% from 3...hitting 15 of them....in the regular season they averaged 34.5% and 9 three's a game.

I said that the Pistons could steal a game or two if the Pistons had a great 3 pt shooting game- and the Cavs had an off night offensively. Thankfully- the Cavs offense was very good and hte Cavs Big 3 was excellent.

Kevin Love looked like a man on a mission- motivated and ready to prove himself. Love and Irving combining to go 9/18 from 3 is certainly encouraging. Tristan Thompsons defense on Drummond was actually very solid as well.

I dont want to say that this game was for-sure the Piston's best shot- as they will get at least 2 home games- but it kinda felt that way down the stretch.

Doesnt seem like Frye is much of a fit in this series.

Honestly?

Because it is all the joy they will have.

They can't beat the Warriors.

They can't beat the Spurs.

So, they might as well enjoy the first 2 rounds.

On a positive note, this is the best that I have ever seen the trio perform together.

Usually it's two of the three with Love being a spectator.

Maybe this is the year that it all comes together for the trio.

Afterward, all Van Gundy could do was lament how Love hurt his team by allowing the Cavs to unleash the very small-ball look he was afraid of.

"He spreads floor out and it makes it tough in pick-and-rolls for your 5s to get out there," he said. "We didn't cover [Love] well, even when we do cover, then we've got our center away from basket. We've got the best rebounder in the game and we're playing him 25 feet [from the basket]."

Dammit I'm not a Cavs fan right now. If they win it all that could change though. I only root for front runners so you can call me Golden State's # 1 fan. I started rooting for them 2 minutes after they won it all last year!:D

Had to do a double take to make sure this wasn't Wiggy. Well played.

Yep, defense needs to improve and other guys just have to hit big shots when they get the opportunity. It's only one game but still looks good as far as Love and Irving. Detroit shot pretty well too and hit 15 3's. At one point in the 3rd quarter they were shooting over 60%, they did get some open shots but they were just feeling it.

I get your point to some extent... but there's plenty to be happy about. A playoff win by my team will always leave me feeling happy. I know some fans aren't like that... but that is not the type of fan I ever want to be.

Does it not feel like the Pistons played the best they're going to play and still lost? Is that just me?

I could be wrong... but I'll be shocked if the Pistons continue to shoot anywhere near that level from 3.

Also, I did not see the long stretches of ISO that you did. :noidea: I did see 25 assists, though.

Best offensive game? Maybe but I don't think anyone in Detroit is please in the least bit with that defensive performance.

It's just you. Drummond, their best player, looked lost and Harris didn't exactly tear it up either. Yet the Cavs were only able to win by 5.

I'd be happy with the win too. But it would be more relieved that they won than happy with how they played.

I feel the Pistons played their best game honestly. The Cavs played really well at certain parts and Irving and Love both played well but as a whole they didn't play close to their best and still won in the end. Other guys didn't do much, the defense wasn't nearly at its' best and the Pistons couldn't miss for awhile there contested or not. I feel like a team can't shoot better from 3 than they did in that game (except maybe the Warriors lol). The thing lacking for the Pistons is a guy to take over in crunch time and that could be the difference if the Cavs play a team that has a player or multiple players like that. It is a plus they won a game where the opponent played lights out but I need to see a lot of improvement. The bright spot is Love played really well and Irving did too, but needs to improve on his efficiency some.

I guess that's fair... but I thought their strategy was pretty good. I think Cavs were around 40% shooting in the first half.

They never doubled LeBron (or anyone) and stayed home on everybody. Seemed like they wanted to limit the Cavs role players which they did very well. Its the main reason why Love,Kyrie,&LeBron ended up with as much of the scoring load as they did, imo.

Agree with @bksballer89 They may have played about as well as they can offensively (especially from 3 point range), but their defensive performance wasn't as good as they are capable of.

What about being 11 for 17 from 3 at one point? That was because of the Cavs awful defense and we should expect to see that throughout the series?

Drummond averaged 16 and 14 this season. He had 13 and 11. Not his best game at all but not a far cry from what he normally is, either.
