Updated for the Stratton deal...

Locks (bubbles)

SP (5/5): Bum, Sammy, Dutch, DRod, PomPom
Bully (5/8): Smith, Watson, Moronta, Dyson, Vincent (MM, Bergen, Gott, Blach, Suarez)
C (2/2): Posey, Kratz (Murphy)
Inf (5/6): Belt, Panik, Craw, Longo, Solarte (Hanson, Sandoval, Joe)
OF (3/4): Dugger, Mac, Parra (Joe, Reed, Ramos)

Vincent, Solarte, and Parra would require 40-spots. With Stratton gone, I think that opens a slot for MM. In this scenario, Sandoval, Hanson and Murphy would likely be gone. I think they try to slip Murphy through waivers

MM may still be in trouble if they decide to go with 3 catchers, though. If they decide to dump Mac as sfgrtb suggests, that may re-open the door for MM.

I don't feel very confident about Williamson's chances right now.

SP (5): Bum-Holland-DRod-Pom-Shark
BP (7): Smith-Watson-Moronta-Dyson-Vincent-Gott-Bergen
C (2): Posey-Kratz
IF (6): Belt-Panik-Craw-Longoria-Solarte-Joe
OF (3): Parra-Duggar-Reed

That leaves two open spots for basically three positions: an additional outfielder, a backup SS, or a 13th pitcher. I'm fairly confident that the Giants will carry the 13th pitcher, who would be Melancon. That leaves the big decision down to a backup SS or additional outfielder.

I think they'll lean backup SS. Who that is? Possible another trade/signing.

It's also possible they go with a 12-man staff and start Melancon on the IL. That might clear the way for Mac and a backup SS.

I don't like it but even if Williamson makes the team, I don't see a whole lot of playing time for him. And we all know that he doesn't hit well when his playing time is sporadic. Its a shame, because I think he'd be a decent bat if given the chance.

How about the team gets innovative and picks up a 4th catcher?! They could have one learn the outfielder and the other learn the middle infield spots. That would be an interesting night when Kratz plays left field, Murphy plays 2nd base, Posey plays 1st base and the new guy catches.

If they pickup a 5th catcher, Posey can slide on over to the right side.

A few tidbits from Kerry Crowley. Don't know his sources so not sure how accurate all this is:

Kinda looks like the 25th spot is between Mac and MM...

Vincent, Solarte, and Parra would require 40-spots. Hanson is definitely gone. Same with Murphy. If Mac opens on the 25, MM is gone as well (that would be HUGE). If MM makes it, than maybe Mac opens on the 10-day. My money is on MM getting traded on Wednesday for a bag if rookie league batting practice balls and a referral to a good marriage counselor to be named later.

Three letters:

O

B

P
Comparing Williamson to Solarte, there isn't that much of a difference in OBP. If Williamson got more playing time, his OBP would be better. Looks at his numbers, the more playing time, the higher the OBP.

Blech, bummer. Even more frustrating when Mac should have been super safe over two others. I don’t see what Reed brings to the table when Parra can cover CF and Mac can play LF and RF, and there’s zero reason to have both Panda and Joe...should he just one or the other.

Only way I’ll be ok with this is if Mac and a reliever are traded for an semi-established OF with upside.

I'm bummed about Mac not making the team but I'm trying to get used to guys I'm rooting jettisoned from the team. Zaidi really is going to make it a team sport with this club.
I think the only two likely scenarios is some club claims Williamson or he reports to Sacramento in about a week.

Final Roster...

SP (5): Bum, Sammy, Dutch, DRod, PomPom
Bully (8): Smith, Watson, Moronta, Dyson, Vincent, Bergen, Gott, MM
C (2): Posey, Kratz
Inf (7): Belt, Panik, Craw, Longo, Solarte, Sandoval, Joe
OF (3): Dugger, Parra, Reed

Vincent, Solarte, and Parra were added to the 40. Mac, Murphy and Hanson were casualties (Mac has not been officially announced yet, AFAIK).

I would not have been surprised to see MM moved or dropped, but outside of him making the team and Mac not making the team, pretty much chalk for what have expected the last few days.

Near elite pitching staff. Elite infield defense. Good OF defense. Old infield bats, but potentially passable. Putrid OF bats.

Maybe my 68 win prediction was a bit harsh, but I am still thinking the under on the 74 Vegas number.

And this roster is OLD. Consider:

Pitchers (13): Bergen (25), Moronta (26), Rodriguez (26), Gott (26), Bumgarner (29), Smith (29), Dyson (30), Pomeranz (30), Holland (32), Vincent (32), Watson (33), Melancon (34), Samardzija (34)
Catchers (2): Posey (32), Kratz (38)
Infielders (7): Joe (26), Panik (28), Belt (30), Solarte (31), Crawford (32), Sandoval (32), Longoria (33)
Outfielders (3): Duggar (25), Reed (26), Parra (31)

Only 10 players will be under 30 on Opening Day. No one will be under 25. The youngest 5 players would be Bergen, Duggar, Moronta, Reed and Rodriguez. The average age of this roster is 30. That is plenty of veteran presence. But the scary part is those 20 somethings playing in center and, sometimes, left field. We need more veterans! When are we going to sign Jose Bautista to play left field?

And I am sure Pudge is available to catch, because we need more 50+ year old catchers. This roster may look like an old-timers game pretty soon. So much for getting younger.

Basically between Mac and MM right now among the people that are on the team as of this moment. They're probably leaning MM but I wouldn't be surprised if the loser is placed on IL.

However, I still wouldn't be shocked if there was another move for an OFer who's not in the org right now.

Sandoval making the teams seems like a pure bone toss to Boch. I anticipate he'll be the new Peavy/Huddy/Affeldt etc. guy this year who plays a bit, sucks a lot, and is placed on the legacy IL most of the year.

Eh, IDK about that anymore. He didn't play CF last year in Coors when Blackmon was really struggling out there.
