Let me get this right...you get seeded say no lower than 4th..you are playing a 12th seed...probably from a no name conference...so that SHOULD BE a gimme game ( See Stephen F Austin) and so in reality you need to win 1 REAL game to advance...COME ON!!

go take a remedial math class.......to get to a bowl game requires 5 wins now, a 5-7 season gets most "power5" teams to a bowl, win your buy games at the first of the year, win two or three league games, you get to a bowl. Only one in five basketball teams GET TO the NCAA tourney, to say it is easy to get to the sweet 16 in three of four years is ridiculous, to try and equate it to a lower tier football bowl game is laughable........

5-7 teams are in bowls every year. .......you are making yourself look stupid. There are 78 teams that go to bowls, out of 130......there are 16 teams in the sweet 16, out of 335.....

Not sure what math has to do with anything. We’ve discussed this in years’ past, you cannot compare college basketball with football using any form of math and number of participants. College basketball would be the equivalent of putting both FBS and FCS schools back in one division.

WVU has reached the Sweet 16 five times under Huggins. One year... they made it to the Final 4 - 2010.

His Final 4 team finished with an AP ranking of #6.

The ‘08 team finished unranked despite making it to the Final 4.

The ‘15 team finished #20 after making it to the Sweet 16.

The ‘17 team finished #13, and last year’s team finished #15.

WVU just let its football coach walk away by finishing the last two out of three years ranked #20 in 2018 and #18 in 2016.

Making a BCS bowl meant you had won an AQ conference or finished ranked in the top 12 (I think it was top 12). That is much more difficult than winning two games in the NCAA tournament... especially if you have a 1-4 seed and you’re playing an FCS level tournament winner in your first round.

And then he makes a statement like... “there are many more quality teams in basketball than football.” That is blatantly untrue.

Stephen F Austin is an example of a FCS level school. They beat one of the best WVU teams to ever play in the NCAA tournament. This achievement... or than of UMBC last year whipping UofV in the first round... are the JMU, NDSU...Appy St stories.

2/3 of college basketball at the Division 1 level is bad basketball.

WVU is in the lowest place in its history right now. As bad as we are, we’d still win half of the Div 1 conferences that will earn the right to play in the NCAA tournament this year.

And, that is why you can’t compare the two sports.

Let’s take a look back at last year. Sweet 16 is considered some kind of huge achievement.

The 16 teams left in the dance... included season ending AP poll... unranked Loyola Chicago, KSU, FSU and SU. That is 1/4 of the Sweet 16.

If we go back to the ‘17 season, the Sweet 16 included unranked USCe and Xavier. 1/8 of the field.

The ‘16 season... unranked Gonzaga, Wisky, ND and SU in the field. 1/4 of the field.

In what year did we have unranked teams playing in a BCS bowl?

That is the beauty of the NCAA tourney. It is more like two seasons and more chances for success.

BTW Huggs just raised 200K to fight Cancer. Even though it is not a HOF coaching year, he can still raise $$$$.

Javon was in the house on Monday. The cheer and standing ovation was louder than anything the whole game.

The team played fairly well Monday, tied the game in the second half and then fell flat.

You don't compare basketball to football because football requires 22 good players and basketball just 5. Football is much more a team game. One player can carry a basketball team. As we've seen from this year, Jevon Carter has been carrying WVU. But in results, a sweet 16 is about the same as a new year's day bowl.
