While many might be looking at the QB situation at the top in the AFC and AFC West specifically I think the real QB storyline to watch in 2022 is who ends up making the biggest leap for QBs who will be making their second season as the starter. I'm a lot higher on Davis Mills than most and I think Doug Pederson is going to save Trevor Lawrence's career and we will see the results immediately but in the end I think Jalen Hurts takes a big leap in year 3 but what is only his second season as a starting QB.

Well, it most definitely won’t be Hurts.

Fields is the best bet from this group by far, IMO.

Lawrence going from the worst receiving corps in the league and the worst coach in the league to a bottom 5 receiving corps and a bottom 5 coach should be enough of an upgrade. ETN seems like instant rapport upgrade, too

Jets, Texans, and Eagles could all add a WR in the draft potentially. Id have to wait on that.

I feel like Fields is either going to be first or last with no real middle ground. Nagy took a lot of heat but its entirely possible that situation wont get any better

this is an interesting question.
The guy I thought did the best last year I figure will again this year, but the way the question is formed. That might just take him out of the running for biggest leap.

So I am gonna go with Zach Wilson who has the room to make the biggest improvement after the dumpster fire of last year.

I think Trevor Lawrence will show a lot of improvement this year. The Jags appear to be trying to get him some help at least and I think most of the other ones have limited ceilings so I'm not expecting big leaps. Fields could, I suppose but its the Bears so I wouldn't hold my breath.

This is a good point. I also think the guy who did the best last year will also do the best this year. Mac Jones was around the 15th best QB in efficiency last year but not always heavily used. Next year if he gets the keys more often he might make more plays.

Zach Wilson. I love their offseason so far and now they have 2 top 10 picks coming up. Jets are making a leap next season.

Add on to the Jets. I hope they double down on WR at picks 4 and 10. No need to pick Sauce Gardner at 4.

But Sauce is really really good. Decisions decisions...

How is Doug Pederson a bottom 5 HC? He won a Super Bowl with a backup QB. He won another playoff game the following year with a backup QB again. He made the playoffs 3 out of 5 years including a division title in 2019 when the Eagles were playing with mostly practice squad players by the last month of the season. Doug Pederson is the most underrated HC in the NFL.

I truly believe that the Jaguars will win the AFC South this year with a 8-9 record.

I was listening to Bill Simmon's latest podcast today and the Jets strength of schedule is like the 2nd or 3rd hardest in the league apparently. I've heard so much offseason hype for the Jets to take a step forward for so many years now that I'm at the point now where I need to actually see it before I even give it any consideration.

Jalen Hurts 2021 15 games: 3,928 total offensive yards, 26 total TDs, 9 INT, 7.3 YPA

Lawrence, only because he looked like the real deal to me in college, then had such a tough time of it with the Jags last season that there's nowhere to go but up. You guys who follow it closely say they've given him some help this year, so I'll go with him.

No one disputes Hurts is a better runner than Mac & Cheese, but he is not a better QB.

Cmp %
Hurts 61.3
Jones 67.6

Passing TDs
Hurts 16
Jones 22

Passing yds
Hurts 3144
Jones 3801

Rating (if you are into this stat)
Hurts 87.2
Jones 92.5

QBR (again if you are into this stat)
Hurts 48.5
Jones 50.9

Hurts got to play against mainly the NFC while Jones played mainly the AFC (stronger conference)

So yes. Mac Jones is the better QB of the two & you dont even have to think hard to know this.
I also suspect Jones to improve his 2nd year, while Hurts will be what we all (most anyways) think of him.

I'm confused, are you saying that Hurts rushing yards and TDs don't actually count in games?

He's saying as a QB Jones was better.

Now if you want to compare them at RB it's Hurts easily.

So now I ask. With all that running RB Hurts does whats his odds at getting injured.

When did Hurts play the RB position? He hasn't taken any snaps at QB since trick plays they would run his rookie year before he replaced Wentz.

do you know why someone combines RB stats with their QB stats. Because their QB sucks at Quarterbacking. & it is the only way to pump them up.
If the #1 quality of your QB is his rushing ability. You are in trouble.
