That bootleg Geno ran earlier in the series allowed that to happen. Any kind of threat of the run from the quarterback position opens things up. Which is why I don’t understand why we haven’t used it all year till today.

It's not scheme at this point, it's not 'giving them more chances' or 'not their fault'.. it's just absolute shit coaching and discipline at this point.

No, you can still pay the player - but it will count against your cap (obviously). You can't pay them under the table. So Seattle could've sat Geno, paid him $6M anyway, but it would still count against their 2025 cap. Either way, it's VERY easy to amend a contract to do so. This is not the first time NFL teams have paid bonuses when players retire, are injured, forced to sit, etc.
