What a haul if the report is true. I haven't seen anyone else report the picks going back to the Eagles. The trade makes since because the Vikings are a playoff team if they can get average QB play & Teddy might not be ready to start 2018.

The desperation is real, hahaha. The Eagles got a little lucky it looks like. They were asking for TWO seconds (the Alex Smith trade II) for him during the offseason which I'd imagine most laughed off. We'll see if that's the case.

Chase Daniel is a starting Quarterback.

Well what I am reading is that they got a 1st round pick and a 4th round pick in the trade. I can't believe it. Is there a more overhyped QB in the league than Sam Bradford?

I think the people who made fun of the Eagles for resigning Bradford (including me) should eat crow now. They are either extremely lucky or pulled off a genius move.

I understand that the Vikings view this as a great Super Bowl opportunity type year but man going and getting a QB that if I remember right has never taken his team to the playoffs before is not exactly a well thought out move.

That's more than what Alex Smith netted and he was pretty much an obvious multi-year option. Shocked the Vikings would do this if Teddy's on a typical 1 year recovery. Makes me wonder about Teddy a bit.

They weren't making the playoffs in 2016 anyways. Chase is just a place holder for Wentz. The Eagles just recouped what they spent on Wentz.

Well I would say looking a little of both. I mean genius in we should always know that some big name QB will go down for the season before the season even starts. Meaning some team might become desperate for a starter level type QB. Lucky in the fact that they got the value that they did. Pretty much now they are looking like they are getting back similar value to what they traded to move up and get Wentz. Now I think the Vikings will finish with a better record than the Eagles so lose a bit of value that way but still I am honestly shocked at what they got. Plus clears quite a bit of cap space.

It's a 1st & a 4th.

For Wentz, they swapped 1st & sent 2016 3rd & 4th along with the 2017 1st & 3rd.

Oh I have said since I heard what the injury actually ended up being that this was easily a 2-year recovery. A typical ACL takes a year or at least 9 months even for most athletes these days. This wasn't a typical ACL tear though where there is more damage done to the knee. So to me we are talking maybe a year before he starts even any kind of normal football activity. Then we are talking another year of just getting to the point that you can trust that knee to actually hold up.

Yep, it meshes perfectly with the two years that Bradford is signed for.

That is what I kind of figured as well. Stinks to give up a 1st round pick for a 2-year rental but hey if they are in a Super Bowl window then it is worth the cost to do everything possible to win one. I understand why the Vikings did it I just don't think they needed to give up so much to get the Eagles on board with a trade.

Something that does help though in this situation is that the Eagles are still on the hook for $11 million of Bradford's contract. That means the Vikings are only paying $7 million this year for Bradford's services.

Eagles were holding firm.

It's a lot to give up but they badly needed a QB and to get one that won't take forever to learn the playbook(or in Freeman's case never learn it) they had to do it.

With Teddy it was going to be another late first round pick, and our team isn't in a position where they badly need the pick.

Worth the risk, but it's a massive one.
