Well, the team sure was in that mindset last night, and July 24, and July 21, and July 19, and July 18

The July numbers are inflated by one week in Milwaukee and Colorado and you know this, or should.

They were 4-1 in those games. Whether they score 1 or 10, as long as there’s a W next to it I don’t care how many runs they score.

msg and cal are trying to accuse me of using small sample sizes.

They're just like everyone else here.

Yup. Huge career risk. Trade of the year by far, probably trade of the decade. If he tanked a playoff contender by trading the best playoff pitcher IN HISTORY, and then the prospects we got turned out to be busts, he would forever be a laughingstock. He couldn't get a job as GM of a 7-11.

This seems like an overreaction

The Giants were connected to Eric Sogard earlier this month, and he was just scratched from the lineup today.....

There actually quite a few lefties stashed away in Sacramento:
Fernando Abad (starting to fade)
Travis Bergen (still listed on rehab on AAA roster)
Williams Jerez
Conner Menez
Steven Okert (starting to pitch better lately)
And, technically, Pat Venditte

Venditte has actually been away from the organization due to his wife's current health concerns.

I saw that he's listed as "temporarily inactive" but didn't realize the reason until your post. I googled to find out the issue and a brain hemorrhage is scary! Sounds like she will fully recover, so that is good. I doubt he'll make it back before the minor league season is over but taking care of her is a much higher priority than baseball.

So Chris Martin was just traded from the Rangers to the Braves today. Who is Chris Martin, you ask? He's a reference point, or at least the closest one we have, for the Giants' bullpen arms.

Martin was traded for Kolby Allard. The Giants' equivalent is Andy Suarez. I'd say that Dyson and Smith are both better than Martin, but that's a pretty good look at what the Giants could get.

We need an OF who can hit, do you think dealing Dyson could get us one to help this year? Otherwise I'd keep the pen and see if it can get us there. Not likely but maybe that'd be our killer app.

Tough to say, but Zaidi is probably looking at deals to help the offense now because they have so much Pen depth

Basically what I'm saying. Can one of the pen guys bring back a useful hitter given how pen arms are valued now?

It's a buyers market right now, but that could change as the clock ticks. Tough to say but the odds don't look great
