Watch him throw. He is mediocre as an actual passer by college standards; by pro standards he's a joke.

THIS.

Just watch the Alabama game. EVERY pass he threw should have been intercepted. He threw up lollipops all game, and the DBs never turned their heads to find the ball, something that won't happen in the NFL.

I've never seen him make an NFL throw, and I saw every game he played outside of 2. You ever see him throw a deep out? Hit a WR on the outside shoulder on an out by the sideline? Hit a WR between a safety and LB on a slant with a small window?

I've seen him throw to wiiiiiiiide open WRs or guys one on one with DBs a few feet shorter than them. I've never seen him make the throws he'll need in the NFL.

That's not to say he CAN'T. Just that I haven't seen it. Passes that stay in the air over 4 seconds won't make it in the NFL. Throwing the ball up for grabs isn't going to work in the NFL.

Reminds me of Kellen Moore during his BSU days... Just heave and pray

I think athleticism is too overrated in the QB position, look at Brady and Manning, 2 of the most unathletic guys on the planet. The scrambling QB's career is short and injury ridden in the NFL. Vick and RG3 are perfect examples. Rodgers and Wilson are pass first in pocket and scramble in need to, so they will have much better shelf life and have much more football smarts that the 2 I mentioned. Idon't know how Manziel will pan out in the pros, but he needs better work ethic, get his head out of his ass and eat some humble pie. Need to be hungry and not think its a given right. Nachos and fritos. Now he is in the exclusive McDonalds club with Lebron James. Johnny Football thinks he's Johnny Hollywood, and once nasty linebacker plants him in turf, he will come back to reality

Nothing wrong with being an athletic QB, but you don't have to run 4.3...Luck is the new prototype and he's athletic.

The problem with Vick and to some degree RG3 is they expected, and were expected to make plays running the ball. That truly means not for long.

I just don't see how the game that made him Johnny Football will translate to the NFL. He's not Brees-like with anticipation and delivery...he's not Vick-like with his legs.

I agree nothing wrong with being athletic qb, but not a measuring stick. Thats why the pocket passer to me is way more valuable and gets job done in long run and long shelf life. Thats why again the Brady's and Mannings play so long w/o missing 3-4 games a season ,esp with severity with concussions. I love Rodgers play but he has had his share of concussions along with Ben who holds onto the ball to long. Manziel isnt your prototypical qb and tough to be a pocket qb at his height, but who knows. Look at the Leaf,s Mirers,Leafs etc that were supposed to be good NFL qb's. Nobody predicted Wilson to be as good as he is, and Brees is another one. Only time will tell. Manziel is a smaller version of Favre

:wtf:

He makes plays, but isn't even in the same universe of arm strength or accuracy......Favre made his WRs, Manziels WRs made HIM

I didnt watch Favre at S Miss, but watched GB in Nfl and saw many gunsling throws that he shouldnt have made. I used that comparison because Favre made it. He said when he watched JM play it reminded him of himself, when he was younger but more athletic. I didnt watch a lot of A&M games so cant comment on mechanisms, but his arm didnt seem too bad in the few games I watched. Scouts and coaches to seem high on him

This is why I said.....Favre MADE his WRs, and Manziels WRs made him.

You can watch game after game after game and watch JFF just toss it up......and Mike Evans and co go out there and just GET the ball. You won't see bullet passes from the pocket between defenders.....you won't see passes that require pinpoint accuracy where only the WR can get it. You'll see a LOT of toss ups to wide open WRs. I just don't see the comparison. Favre has broken WRs fingers with his passes.

The only think I see in common is the "gunslinger" attitude, which frankly, is not good football. Favre got away with it, but he's no HOFer in my book - he cost his teams more losses than wins IMO in the clutch with bonehead INTs.

I'm more of a pocket guy as well, but I see where the college game is going...the FL St QB is likely to be #1 overall next year and he could very well suck as a pro if he thinks he's going to run all over people at this level.

But, with the right coaching, an athletic QB that was also a passer will start making the transition to the pro game. I think we're seeing it with Cam, certainly RW. Vick imo was athlete playing the QB position for much of his time in ATL...by the time he did start learning to play QB in PHI, he was already battered. Time will tell with Kaep, RG3.

I saw him him play 4 or 5 times, and I think bigd is right...he completed passes, but threw a lot of floaters that are picked in the NFL imo.

Not all WRs run the full route tree well...not QBs can throw them well. Like Matt Ryan, I can't see an OC giving JM that deep seam route too often, or the deep out vs a good man corner. You can make those throws if you're like Brees with anticipation, or you need a big arm.

if you are a weak or young team, what the heck, take a chance. If you are established and a winner you don't even bother thinking about it because even if you need a QB your front office should do a better job finding quality

Favre had one of the strongest arms ever. It was bad enough when Favre went full retard, but he at least had a cannon to bail him out occasionally.

Manziel doesn't.

Granted, but it's where you take him, thus how much you're paying him.

CLE...@ 1.4 it sucks imo, they can get a better football player...@ 1.26? It doesn't suck as much. @ 2.35? You roll the dice.

Manziel has 1 tangible...escapability... and a strong enough accurate arm to make him a danger on any given play. Yep, worth a lookie lou.

Do you have an example of an established winning team who needs a QB?

If I was the Texans GM, I'd absolutely take him. First, you need a QB. Second, you need to sell-out all those boxes and seats, and he'd do it immediately, plus you'd make a killing on jerseys and shit. Third, it's not that big a gamble, because of the new CBI. Wont cost you that much, you'd make that up in sales anyway.

If I was Jax or the Browns or the Raiders, hell no.

If I was the Rams, yes.

Sure, he's a jerk and done some stupid immature shit. But the kid can play.
