So its a reason like the Madden Curse? Superstition?

2013 Winston Projected #1 overall next year
2012 Manziel Fringe starter QB
2011 RG3 Superstar with possible outside of never being healthy
2010 Newton Superstar
2009 Ingram Backup RB. Was picked because it had been awhile since Bama was relevant
2008 Bradford Fringe starter QB
2007 Tebow Bust, though he did get a playoff win against the Steelers
2006 Troy Smith. Backup QB. meh
2005 Reggie Bush. Starting level RB. Solid career but not a HOFer or anything
2004 Leinart. Backup QB. Bust

So 2 superstars, 1 starting level RB, 1 projected #1 overall, 2 fringe starter QBs and a bunch of meh. Not exactly a great rule of thumb

Actually I think you just proved it's a great rule of thumb.

We can't comment on Winston or Manziel since they haven't played a down in the NFL, so they're out.

RGIII - Last season he sucked, yes?

Cam Newton? You mean the guy that's going to get surgery NOW instead of having it done when the season ended? The man that pouted on the sideline? Yeah...keep him.

Ingram. Not a superstar.

Bradford. Meh.

Tebow, bust.

Bush, bust. Not NEARLY as good as projected. I'm not even sure he's a starter, I think he's a change of pace RB.

Troy Smith, meh

Lienart, bust.

As I said, stay away from Johnny Manziel.

For a pool of ten random players, it would still be a great list. NFL prospects bust at a high rate.

I will say that I'll lol at the team who drafts Manziel in Rd 1. He should be going in Rd 3 like all project QBs

I would agree with that but I think the Vikings will pick him in the first round. My mock draft tells me so

They might as well trade their first round pick to move up a spot in the seventh.

Reality with my top QB in this draft is Bortles..has been since before the combine. The Vikes might not pull the trigger on the top QB but they need the best QB available at their pick.. Johnny Football.

He's not the best QB at their pick unless there's 100 QBs taken already.

This is shaping up a lot like the 2010 draft. 1 QB at the top, a couple of great pass rushers, a couple of highly regarded OT prospects, 2 first round Safeties, etc, etc

I'd bite at the end of round 1 if I needed a QB in a couple years. Douchebag personality, yes, but the guy won and can make plays. Not a 'stacked team' guy like Bush or Bradford, but a guy who was The Man for a winner.

Top-5, no way.

No chance in a million years. You'd have to be retarded and Bill isn't.

Manziel has played with no less than 3 top 10 picks on offense (Joeckel, Matthews, Evans)

True a lot of NFL players go bust.

I don't think the kid is ready for the big time.

Q: What do you do with Phillip Rivers?

Going to a team that already has a starting QB would be a huge benefit to Manziel. He can learn like Rodgers did in Green Bay. It doesn't hurt the Chargers that their Head Coach was the Offensive Coordinator for Tim Tebow the 1 year he actually played in the league. If he can win with Tebow he can win with just about any QB.

Rodgers had talent. Manziel doesn't.

Rodgers had talent. Manziel doesn't.

We're talking about a kid who single handedly beat Alabama the year before last when they were absolutely loaded. Manziel is a playmaker. He's not going to light other teams up with his Arm. However, in the right system, with the right coach I believe he can thrive in the NFL. He'll make mistakes just like every other young player.

Believe it or not their were quesitions about Rodgers. If there weren't he wouldn't have lasted as long as he did.

There's a difference between question marks and laughably little NFL talent. Manziel has no NFL talent.

He is a first round pick he has the talent to succeed I wouldn't take him first over all and I would take Bortles and Bridgewater before him but if the Bills didn't have EJ Manuel I wouldn't mind the Bills taking him.

Exactly...and playmakers @ the QB position don't often do that great in the NFL after a yr. Players quickly learn what angles to take, etc. Vick was the only one that comes to mind. He was an exceptional athlete, with speed the league had never seen at the QB position and he only had about 3 good years being a playmaker.

I think he'll do okay as a pro as you said in the right system. He has some innate instincts in the pocket that I don't think you can really teach, but I don't think he's 1st round material. If he goes to the AFCW...I think he has half a chance. If he goes to CLE, he'll be a one contract player...as a Brown.
