Tell me how I'm wrong? He is well below average NFL athleticism and doesn't have close to the athleticism to evade defensive ends, let alone beat anyone in space, which is absolutely essential if you think there's a chance of making a living on the ground.

So he's less athletic than say a Tony Romo type? Somehow Romo evades would be tacklers and isn't near the athlete that Johnny is. You're losing me.

Not with anything resembling consistency he doesn't. And no, he's not particularly more athletic than romo, who doesn't make his living on the ground.

There is talk of the Browns or Vikings taking him, but that's the last thing those franchises need. Another massive reach bust of a QB.

I agree neither of them need a project QB. I can see Philly taking him

Maybe.

Nobody knows what quarterback will succeed and which one will fail at the NFL level. If there was a sure way of knowing, there would be no such thing as busts.

Sorry but this kid just as bust written all over him.

First knock is he won the Hiesmann trophy. Kids that win that usually don't do well in the NFL, at least in the last 10 years or so.

Second, he looks really injury prone. You can be that thin if you're a pocket passer. If you run around a lot like he does, you have to be built better.

He's a younger version of Michael Vick - and Vick is often injured.

Lastly the kid lacks maturity.

He signed autographs for money. The only part of that I really have a problem with is that it hurt the team. He knew he was in the spotlight and did it anyway.

And he came out said "If the Texans don't draft me they're making the biggest mistake in franchise history".

That's a bold statement and it tells me he's full of himself. I don't think he's ready to be handed the keys to an offense.

I think he should be a 3rd round pick but someone is going to buy into the hype and take him in the first.

I wouldn't touch the kid.

Vick was more athletic, faster, and a better passer than manziel.

Waiting on JohnnyDollaz's pro-Manziel response about his hard work this offseason

Well no response from Johnny means he's done defending Manziel ( for now) which now puts us doubters ( I'm including myself on the doubt part) and if Manziel does good in the NFL Johnny will make us all eat our words...

And believe me when I say I'd be MORE than happy to do so.

Oh I will too, but I just don't see this working for Johnny. Some folks have mentioned his size, I honestly think if he takes off out of the pocket he's gonna get pounded by bigger, faster defensive players. And the other issue is how he handles the everyday media crush as an NFL QB.....

I still see him dropping in the draft, I think Cleveland isn't interested in him, I believe it's a smoke screen, ( yes Face-les I still feel that way) though Shane has me thinking twice now if Bortles is gone they do have Hoyer and they could wait until the second round and take Carr or wait until a later round and take Mettenburger..

I'm in line with you here mostly. I don't think he's going to be a 2 contract QB in the NFL...but I'm not that worried about the maturity issue. I think he's made some bad decisions like a lot of young people do, but he's not dumb, I don't expect any legal trouble with him as a pro.

My reason is more on the field. In the AFCN, you need a big arm guy that can play in the outdoor stadiums when the leaves fall...he throws a lot of floaters imo that will end up getting picked.

Vick...similar game, but he's nowhere close to that kind of speed and arm strength.

A west coast team, maybe he stands a better chance.

:L

Luck and Suh almost won the trophy. Cam Newton and RG3 will be tearing up the league for years to come. Bradford eh could be worse. Not sure how this is proof of anything

And as ALMOST won the trophy they don't count.

Go ahead...list the men that have won it the last ten years or so, now look at how many have been successful in the NFL.

So its a reason like the Madden Curse? Superstition?

2013 Winston Projected #1 overall next year
2012 Manziel Fringe starter QB
2011 RG3 Superstar with possible outside of never being healthy
2010 Newton Superstar
2009 Ingram Backup RB. Was picked because it had been awhile since Bama was relevant
2008 Bradford Fringe starter QB
2007 Tebow Bust, though he did get a playoff win against the Steelers
2006 Troy Smith. Backup QB. meh
2005 Reggie Bush. Starting level RB. Solid career but not a HOFer or anything
2004 Leinart. Backup QB. Bust

So 2 superstars, 1 starting level RB, 1 projected #1 overall, 2 fringe starter QBs and a bunch of meh. Not exactly a great rule of thumb

If you're counting cam as a "superstar" your standards are way too low.

Ok. Franchise QB.

Its hard to argue with RG3 and Newton's numbers and upside, though

Just curious: how many superstar QBs do you think there are there in the league?

RG3 has upside. Cam is a bum.

It sounds like you think the NFL should retract to about 6 teams because clearly there aren't any QBs who can play
